i was downloading a file at 50kbps sometimes 100kbps....thats like nothing right?

i wasnt uploading anything...

i was lagging in every smash game...so i thought...no way it could be this....i can download at 2.5 Mbps

as soon as i stopped downloading it the lag cleared up....

so guys...if you want smash to run perfect....do nothing and i mean absolutely nothing with your online while playing.

this includes even watching a youtube video or streaming i bet.

You mean downloading on the internet (even loading a damn page is downloading) actually takes up bandwidth?! Who da thunk it? :P

yes and smash bros is more sensitive to it than other games....like call of duty. i can download small things in COD without lag.

I noticed that with all of my games, including Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct (probably more noticeable in fighting games). It's never a good idea to not have any downloading going on. I don't have much of a problem with video playback though.

Yes, if you're downloading things, it's going to affect playing a game online lol.

An easy way to test that is just to ping something while you are doing whatever.

e.g in command prompt

ping google.com -t

If it's below 20ms and not jittering everywhere, then you're fine.

Smash Bros biggest problem is that it does not have regioning. It keeps pairing me with Mexicans, Australians, and Europeans. I get those much more often than people in the same region as me (US West Coast).

Luckily you can play on Anther's ladder which has an elo system as well.

http://www.smashladder.com/

And to be fair, I am getting bored of for glory. It's too easy, and FD only is kind of lame.

I wish you could only play online if you had the Wii U ethernet adapter, but that's not the case.

@JigglyWiggly_: I found that because of Christmas being recent, my win rate was going up quite a bit because of the new players. Maybe that's why you think it's boring? I think after some time (a few months) you'll get only the better players online (the people who stick to playing Smash).

Also, who are you in the video?

Lucario

And yeah I know the Christmas players aren't so good. They weren't good before then either, but it doesn't really matter. I don't stat pad regardless, I only play 1-2 games max with most people. If they happen to be good I'll play several, but this is pretty rare. Most of my losses are due to SDs. Some maps the ledge is very finicky when you recover as Lucario.

Just go play Anther's ladder if you want some actual challenging games.
