Maps for whatever Metriod game they release this year or the old one?
Yeah they could do it for the old one but no screwing with old games.

To be honest I think they could get pretty big.
The problem is that you only have 512 to start with and when you factor in the size of keeping them on the Wii it's tricky to get it all in. What happens when you have more packs for other games?

I don't see how Nintendo is able to do that with what they have now.

the map pack (2 maps) for Gears of War was 100MB. if you consider that the game is HD, lower res textures for a non-HD game could make a map pack small enough to fit on the Wii's internal memory.

found it...
-Wii will have Connect 24, so we are thinking more about the possibility of using that functionality so that the player can get something.

IGN Wii: Downloadable levels or maybe different suits?

Kensuke Tanabe: Yeah, maybe. But, this is just an idea, maybe we could send an e-mail or something depending upon how far a player progresses into the game.

but then again this was the same time they said metroid would be a launch title LOL.

I know, I'd rather they tie into the SD card's ability to work with the Wii.
Once you start adding on things you turn your system into a Sega CD sort of thing, that's a hard stereotype to break

..but why would they add all the objects etc in the map file? if the map uses the data already on the disc, the map would basically just be code. which wouldn't use much of memory.
