Ok, 2 out of the last 4 times that I have connected to the Wii Shopping channel, it just sits there and says connecting.. I hit the home button after like 5 minutes and it gives me the home in the red circle (no home) icon.  It never loads up the channel, and I have to end up unplugging the wii and plugging it back in as I cant do anything at all.  After unplugging it and then plugging it back in, I have no problem accessing the channel.  Anyone else experiencing this?

I cant get mine to power down. I have to actually unplug it from the wall to get the power off and that is definitely not good for the system. Im afraid I may end up damaging it, but I have no choice other than to do that.

I never have to remove the power cord... If you hold the power button for like 5 seconds it should shut your system down... I'm sure this isn't great for your system either but sometimes you don't have a choice. Mine did the same thing yesterday morning when trying to download the Vote channel. When I powered down and came back, it worked quickely. It did take a long time during the actual download. I'm sure your problem is not uncommon.

I'm having a similar problem. But even after powering down, I can't get my wii to connect (It finds the wireless access point within seconds, but it won't connect to the internet......it was working fine a week ago)

if you just started having this problem after you updated your wii for the vote channel i suggest doing the following:

1.) Make sure your router is on channel 1 or 11.
2.) Test connection if it doesnt work, make a new connection and select the access point
3.) Re-Agree to the liscense agreement

Its never good to turn off a system by killing the power, if changing the channel on your wireless router to 1 or 11 doesnt fix your problem. Just hold the power button down on the wii itself for about 5-10 seconds. for help with changing your routers settings call nintendo.

Ive changed the channel. PS3, and computer access it fine, but my system WILL NOT turn off by holding the power button down. Ive tried it on the wiimote and on the system itself.
