Where would YOU put an expansion team (BESIDES L.A.)?

The NFL is adding an expansion team at some point, most likely in LA. Now, you can't have just one NFL team added. Where would you put the second one? Do you add another team to a city that already has one in hopes that they can support two, or do you find a new venue?

My thought is this: If the NFL wants to put a team in, say Monterey or Mexico City, they would probably be the only league that could do so legitimately. The NFL splits all it's profits, and a team in Mexico would have to see cheap tickets in order to get ANYONE to come (just because everything is cheaper there). Operating costs are less, and player salaries would be paid for by the league's profit-sharing, more than likely. I think that would be the best place to go.

Where else would you put a team? Is that feasible, or is there a far better place to go?

Hmmmmmm, LA Rams --> LA Raiders.. does LA really deserve another shot at a football team? I personally do not think so.

I don't know about Mexico. If you call it football people will get confudsed and think that it is soccer. I don't think players are going to want to spend to much time down there either.

I think a team in Oregon would be good. Maybe Portland. Small market though. Blazers have made it there though and alot of people in Oregon would go and see them play.

Utah would probably the best choice. But you could always put one in Richmond, Portland or Las Vegas.

I don't think Richmond would work. You have, in the area, the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Ravens. That's just too much for one little area. Yes, I know they're in different states. Don't look at me like that.

And actually, Mexicans are big Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans fans. They may not know all the nuances of the game, but they certainly are aware of what it is and what the players do.

I think the NFL is afraid of appearing to promote gambling, even though they wouldn't be TECHNICALLY. Why else have no sports franchises put teams in Vegas?

The NFL should have an expansion team in Utah. They would tap the NFL fans in Nevada, Wyoming, Idaho, and Arizonia. The Cardinals suck so much that they have a little crowd.

This equals 11million people.

LA might also work. it is the second largest city and has no football team.

Montana doen't have enough people and the weather is horrible all year.
In Vegas you wouldn't get as menay people because people go there to gamble and do illegal things with illegal people not watch football.
Portland,OR is a town not a large city and you have the Seahawks.
Richmond has Baltimore and D.C.
New Jersey is the home of the New York teams.

I am sorry for offending...but your ideas are half-hearted and have no facts to back up your statements.

I agree. I would hate to see a team in Vegas. It just wouldn't fit.

Maybe a Canadian city, like Vancouver or Toronto.

NFL in Canada? Doesn't Canada have its own brand of football? I know Toronto has a franchise in the Canadian football league. Vancouver doesn't sound like a reasonable choice. Think of when the NBA decided to expand over there. It didn't pan out well.

Expanding in Mexico sounds like a viable option. There seems to be a demand for the NFL as indicated by the good turnout when NFL teams visited Mexico.

As for US, Las Vegas may seem like a problem. But, an expansion there can prove practical since there's a growing audience who may demand a variety of entertainment other than gambling and attraction. Also, there's the AFL franchise, the Las Vegas Avengers Gladiators, which would be a useful farm club for the expansion franchise.

I don't really know how bad Los Angeles wants an NFL franchise. If they really really want it bad and can provide the facilities to host a team, then they deserve one.

Mexico City is an extrmely large population. It would be a desent place for a team. The thing about it would be if the players had to speak Spanish and the anouncing would be done in Spanish and English. Also what about the border, it would take time to get 54 people through customs in a day.

Customs wouldn't be so bad. I'm sure they would expedite that.

I know what you do. You start a team in Canada. Name it the Toronto Fluties. Rake in the cash.

Do not put football outside of the US, that would be a horrible decision by the NFL, I'm sure the players wouldn't like it one bit. Las Vegas has an Arena team, they also have a minor league baseball team there too. Las Vegas is growing really fast, but they would have to build a dome, playing outside in that dry heat would be horrible. LA has already had thier shot and failed, twice. I would like to see one in Alabama, but thats only because I live there.

LA, no they've already failed twice and that would 4 teams in that state

I would agree with Vegas, they could use a dome team and would get great revenue from all the gamblers

Richmond is 2 hours from DC and 3 hours for Baltimore with no traffic. You figure it would take you at least 3 hours each way to get to game in DC. Nobody would do that drive every other Sunday. VAirginia will do go with a team. I say put it in the Norfolk/Portsmouth area. It sould do great there. You have the Virginia Beach area along with Williamsburg, Richmond, Hampton/Newport News, and parts of North Carolina. If Carolina can support a team, then I know Virginia can support a team.
