Today, we have many very talented runningbacks. Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnso, Steven Jackson, Maurice Jones-Drew, DeAngelo Williams are probably the five best, while Michael Turner, Frank Gore, Ronnie Brown (though out for year) and Ray Rice are also in the discuasion. Who do you think is the #1 Running Back today?

Right now, even though Chris Johnson is beating him statistically, I think that it is still Adrian Peterson. He can break tackles, has great speed, and is a very complete runner. Also, for the past two years, while he has had great defences to play with, he's had a horrible passing game, with Tavaris Jackson and Gus Ferlotte, teams have been stacking the box with 8-9 men a lot, yet Peterson still puts up terrific numbers. Yes, the other running backs in the poll have too, but with the exception of fumbling issues, it hasn't shown, and he's carried the offence of Minnesota for the past two years. He really has shown enough so far to become a legend.

Thats my personal opinion. Who do you think is the best RB today?

Even though Chris Johnson is playing really well right now, Peterson has been doing his thing for almost 3 seasons now and continues to be the most dominant back in the NFL.

Good list, seems people forget about Steven Jackson. He keeps trucking away in STL and putting lots of yards.

Especially considering he has virtually no supporting cast on the offense. He should get even better as Jason Smith improves, as well as the rest of the offence.

I've never really liked AP, he's very overrated in most circles.  Chris Johnson has been relatively under the radar and I love what I see when he plays.  I don't hold my breath when AP gets the ball, I do when it goes to CJ.

I'm also still waiting for the re-emergence of Julius Jones.

You mean that guy that has had like one big game in his entire career?

By the way, if you think Peterson is overrated I'm sure you've never seen him play in Minnesota.

Just to let you know he nearly won the Heisman his Sophomore year, which is kind of a big deal.

Ditto on both.

Sure Peterson isn't as fast as Johnson, but he is a much fiestier and more powerful runner. He's a strong, determined runner, and he isn't that much slower than Johnson. I can see AD being a top 10 RB of all time if he keeps this up. While Johnson is very fun to watch, I just can't see him having that type of potential.

Jackson is an honourable mention because he continues to produce despite having virtually no supporting cast on his team.

Since we are talking about best RB's Today, why has nobody mentioned Ced benson? As of right now he has 859 yds. and he didn't play the last 2 games. I'm not saying he's the best, but top 5. Adrian Peterson is hands down the best running back

Ced Benson was under the radar of everybody, so it probably took like 5 games  before teams started gameplanning against him. Also, he played like crap for years previously to that.
