http://www.macgasm.net/2012/10/01/video-side-by-side-speed-comparison-between-the-iphone-4s-and-iphone-5/

Just goes to show the iPhone 5 is a lot more than a "marginal" upgrade that's "slightly" better.

Three times the benchmark score than the 4S. Loving the three second boot-up time as well!

Didn't realize how much of a leap the 5 is over the 4S.

It's kind of like a 7200RPM HDD vs a solid state drive. Though that comparison has weird hang-ups. Twitter takes ages to load. Even on a fresh boot Twitter pops up in a blink for me.

Its obviously a quicker phone, it would make no sense to release a slower phone. Anyway its widely known knowledge that the iPhone 5 has a superior chipset than the iPhone 4s.

Yes, but an improvement "three" times over. It's a BIG improvement. Much bigger deal than people are marginalizing the improvement to be. Kind of makes you wonder how people say the 5 isn't that much of an improvement over the 4S. The jump from 3GS to 4 wasn't even this huge. >thumbs up

Most people like to see something of a physical change. The android people would more likely appreciate this change than your typical apple user. This is the first time more emphasis has been placed on the SOC than it has been on something 'new' Eg the iPhone 4 saw a major design overhaul with 'retina' display. The iPhone 4s introduced Siri which made people feel like they had something new and awesome. this phone is a little larger and lighter. nothing really new per se, but the SOC had the best overhaul yet.

Some of us can't justify $700 VS waiting a little for things to load.

Five rows? Lte is much faster, but still... I've got an att iPad. I'm looking at phone plans. 2gig/unlimited talk on Verizon--$100/month....that's a ton. Apparently you can't share a 4g data plan across an iPad and iPhone? WOW. Im not trolling either. What gives?

My contract is 9 months old. Trying to get the subsidized price would end up costing me even more. Don't confuse a subsidy for an MSRP

Welcome to the smartphone industry. You're right, some of you can't justify $700 for an upgrade. Lucky for millions of others, people get it for $200, or in my case, absolutely free. ;)

So what you're really saying is that there's nothing really new about the iPhone 5 except for the things that are new? Heheh...

-_-' to an educated mind there will be new and great things to see in this update, but to the uneducated it looks like a slightly bigger version of their iPhone 4s. iPhone 5 gets 8/10 on CNET AU, i find them the most reliable.

GS3 - 9.5

4g GS3 - 7.5

One XL - 8.5

"Apple's design focuses on looks rather than ergonomics, iOS is mostly uncustomisable, and connectivity expansions, like HDMI and SD cards, are available only through expensive Apple-designed adapters. Apple probably believes that these are compromises that most users will live without, and in most cases, this might be true. We just wish we could have more of a say in how we use this phone, and we think experienced tech consumers will feel the same."

He is probably harsher than I would be on the review but his gripe seems more with iOS than the phone itself, in saying that he found it very ergonomically unfriendly, and i agree to a certain extent. The rounded edges have always been nicer to hold than the edged design introduced in the iphone 4, the only problem now is that its a larger edged phone.

Anyhow SOC wise its still a great little chip.

So true and its surprising since the first 3 iphones were so good ergonomically despite being fatter they were easier to handle.

So you quote a singled out review from Australia yet disregard pretty much the majority of every other well established firm that makes the iPhone 5 out to be the clear winner in the market as it stands? Real reliable and unbiased.

Untrue. Even at the increased screensize (vertical only), the iPhone 5 still retains the most comfortable one-handed usage compared to other clunky competitors displays. Ergonomics were kept in mind here more than other companies. Nice try though, guys! :)

No you dont get it. My fatter and bigger nexus S is far easier to handle and grip than the iphone 4S let alone the 5. The iphone 4S is pocket friendly not very ergonomic sorry, havent used the 5 so I cant say.

Clear winner? GSMArena also had a very unfavourable review!!! Dont bother quoting blog sites like engadget and the verge.

GSMArena mind you had an extremely positive review for the iphone 4S because they believed it still provided the most polished touch experience back then, they dont believe that anymore and rightly so.

I personally have always been an iPhone person, and even though people say the iPhone 5 is boring, and iOS is feeling a bit outdated, I like it. The security and walled garden is fine with me, as long as they keep great apps flowing. Personally the iPhone 5 is perfect for me.

No, because it would get in the way of his apple cheerleadng. Because its now impossible to live with an iPhone 4 or 4S, don't you know?

Never said anything negative apple, or incorrect. The post is a few days old. Don't think I have to worry about it :P
