COMPUTEX 14: ASUS Says Goodbye to ARM?

ASUS, during their press event, had announced a number of new 'mobile' devices that all had one thing in common. They all use Intel chips, not a single ARM SoC to be found.

This stuff really is getting VERY interesting. What we have here is the kitchen sink, powered entirely by Intel. I think it's fascinating to see companies leaning in such different directions. MS and Asus here are really seeing Intel's low power chips as their future, while Apple sees high powered ARM in their future (if the rumors and speculation match as well as they seem to with Apple's current course).

I think we're in for a treat over the next few years, because I wonder if we'll once again get two competing yet similarly powerful options for devices (Intel Pentium series vs IBM PowerPC series type thing). It's exciting.

@musicalmac The T300 Chi is the only product that has my interest. A thin and light 2-in-1 with a fanless Broadwell-Y chip.

For comparison, the Surface Pro 3 is 9.14 mm thick, while the tablet portion is only 7.3 mm (and 3.0 mm towards the edges), even the iPad Air is 7.5 mm.

The only thing keeping Intel's Broadwell-Y from taking away from Cherry Trail-T is price. Otherwise we're finally seeing some great performance in thin/light form factors.

Intel's Computex press event is a day or so away, I'm sure we'll have lots of exciting news on upcoming products.

EDIT: correction, the T300 Chi is using Intel's 14 nm Core M which is Intel's branding for Broadwell Y.
