Ya flash is much less relavent than it was 4 years ago. Living without it is much more reasonable now. ;)

With that said I never saw the problem in having flash as an option cuz you can simply not install it in the first place if you dont like it!!!! Heck you can set flash to not load automatically even if you have it installed, I have it set on demand where I can click on a flash object to activate it or just ignore it.

While flash is still usefuli did expect this to occur,HTML 5 is 3 times quicker. Hopefully they can still get desktop web versions of flash on mobile devices... Youtube desktop version>>>> Youtube mobile version.

Nice to see we all agree that Flash is irrelevant.

Shame. One of the main reasons I preferred Android over iOS/WP was flash. Flash is far from irrelevant, but it's getting there.

this sits well only if it enhances the advancement of HTML5. Otherwise, too soon.

People are just scared of change, and some of them are pissed off because of reduced functionality than what was originally advertised. (slightly reminded of OtherOS) People will adjust. The net will adjust. New tech will always be developed by those who seek the convenience.

TechCrunch details this revelation really well:

techcrunch.com/2012/06/30/steve-jobs-war-against-flash/

The user comments in that article really contribute, as well.

Further evidence that Apple knew exactly what it was doing:

http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/

Apple had a lot to do with Flash coming into obsolesence as fast as it did. The transition would have lasted much longer without the push. Thank God it's over now.

Good thing Google knew to wait a bit longer until HTML5 really started coming around. Still, hopefully it didn't pull the trigger too soon.

Adobe is ceasing support, not google. If it were up to google, nothing would change

If that were the case why would google opt out of flash for chrome?

adobe never made flash work with the browser, they say so themselves. Heres the quote from adobe: "Adobe is no longer developing Flash Player for mobile browsers, and thus Chrome for Android Beta does not support Flash content."

This was entirely adobes call. Knowing how google is a serious feature whore, they would probably like to keep support until the last remaining banner ad
