I've noticed a few on various appstores...just curious if actual gamers would consider one? I figure mobile devices are a good outlet for a text based game, especially if it focused on storyline, freedom of movement, more inventive gameplay, etc.
@musicalmac: Somewhat...I was considering developing a text based strategy game OR a storylined adventure game. The theme would be apocalyptic for either account though. I played several growing up and wanting to revisit old nostalgia it seems. Text games are what got me to read without actually opening up a book. Heh.
Yeah, text-based games are awesome. I don't know how well the old games that required you to do things like type "investigate lamp" would fare on smaller phone screens, but multiple choice text games are quite good. Everything is story-based, so you need to be a good writer.
If you are referring to text-based games as in the MUDD genre of the late 1980's, DEFINITELY. I didn't even know there were text-based games on the app store. Talk about a blast from the past.
