After launched, 4G network favored by users in very short time and operators and governments are promoting the development of 4G vigorously, 2G and 3G shares are being gradually eroded. Even with all the market research company forecast, the next 5 years, the 2G network will disappear.

Globally, many operators announced the closure of the second generation mobile communication network system and vigorously promote the 4G network. It is reported that USA operator T-Mobile announced they had already begun to close CDMA network. The company’s MetroPCS company claimed on the official website, from the beginning of June 21st, they will gradually close the CDMA network and services of CDMA mobile phone users of cannot be guaranteed.

Operators give their best-efforts for the popularization of the 4G network. According to reports, the uses of CDMA mobile phone can enjoy the “new for old” service, obtaining the vouchers which can buy LTE intelligent mobile phone.

Purpose of this operator is very obvious– mainly to utilize radio frequency resources of the CDMA network. For example, T-Mobile is currently pushing the 4G network base station construction strategy, with the original radio frequency of CDMA network resource using 80% for 4G network.

In fact, as early as 2007 Australia had completely shut down the CDMA network, followed by Mexico, Japan, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Thailand, Brazil and other regions of the operators.

Of course, the second generation mobile communication network– GSM is going to be closed. The largest American mobile operator called AT & T previously announced they will be completely shut down the GSM network before 2016 and the network resources will be used for the construction of 4G network.

However, the global 2G network will not disappear such fast. In this regard, the British science and technology market research firm Ovum forecast that 2G network will not disappear completely until 2020, because at present, mobile operators still get a lot of revenue by voice GSM and CDMA calls, SMS, roaming fees.
