Welp, looks like the iPad Pro isn't helping revitalize iPad sales as it may have a bigger screen, but fails to replace a laptop. Another problem is a lack of Apple Pencils. They seem to always be out of stock.

@FireEmblem_Man: I'm very skeptical of those numbers, as are other news outlets. Only 49k in China?... I doubt that very much. However, the issue surrounding the Pencil is real and it's a shame Apple didn't have more ready to go considering the high praise.

Meanwhile, Apple's iPad Pro, within the span of a few months, has already outsold the entirety of Surface sales since Microsoft's tablet was first released in 2012...

@musicalmac: Article is in black and white, iPad Pro sales aren't good, Surface sales up. Nice try though

Well it's not black and white, which is easily identifiable by a headline that uses the word "alleged' - and in fact omits some key information found in the source material from CultOfMac.

Interestingly, today’s report — which comes from the hit-and-miss news outlet Digitimes — doesn’t mention how many sales other iPads achieved in their first month, but rather compared it to shipments. The iPad Air 2 achieved shipments of 557,000 in its first month, while the iPad mini 4 saw 92,000 shipments during the same four-week period.

Comparing shipments to sales isn’t an entirely fair comparison, although unlike companies like Samsung, Apple tends to not overestimate when it comes to shipments versus sales. Either way, it is reported that considerably fewer iPad Pros were shipped during the product’s first month on sale.

So black and white it is not. But there's something else we can't ignore - Digitimes.

The real red flag on this report is the original source. If there's one publication you take with not a grain but with the ocean's supply of salt, it's Digitimes. Their information is unreliable and has been for the life of the source. If legendary analyst Kuo had been the source of information about low iPad Pro sales in China, I would be listening with much more intent. But Digitimes is forgettable and they have been for a long, long time.

I'm telling you now, this is one of those rumors you'd be wise not to depend on.

1. First month of iPad Pro sales already trumped Microsofts three years of selling the Surface. Absolute fail on Microsofts part.

2. Apple watch sales started slow, but now commands almost the entire smartwatch market. Go figure. The iPad pro is set for the same pattern. Just look at its first two months of sales.

3. The source you quite is completely laughable. They have a track record of publishing incomplete data, and discussing rumors and speculation as "research."

Ultimate thread fail, backfired so hard.

@ferret-gamer: Error on my part. I can't confirm more iPad pro than all of Surface, but can confirm Apple sold more iPads in one quarter than MS does surface tablets in its entirety (by many, many times).

Links are out there. On the road and can't link from mobile.

Imagining the iPad as a failure is like a tired film cliche.
