An underrated receiver that will bring some much needed leadership to the Falcons.

I think they got some solid receivers (Jenkins, Crumpler), but with Horn on you're team, you have atleast one receiver that will catch more balls than drop

Alot of dropped balls from the highlights i've seen. I wonder how much Patreno will make Vick throw...

this allows him to stick it to the saints for cutting him. he was the heart and soul of that team, put 7 hard years into his career and that city. now he stays in the division and has a chance to stick it to the organization. i bet when he returns to the dome he gets a standing o or lots of cheers when he makes a catch.

If Vick gets the start on opening day (which right now looks to be the case), then Vick is definitely on the "hot seat". Why? Because he's only won ONE playoff game since coming in to the NFL (I believe). He hasa new coach in place, added weapons and a solid defense (could be better). It's time he takes this team to the next level.

I'm sure some will disagree :(

How old is he?  At least the old man doesn't have to catch much because Vick can't throw.

I hope he'll be a bust like Keyshawn was with the Panthers. No offense to any Atlanta fans. :P

No way you can tell me Joe isn't doing this so he can face his old team twice a year. I wish him well in all but the two games he plays us. 8)

Great pickup but if Vick can't get it done this year with a receiver like Horn (huge upgrade over Lelie) then I think people are really going to start questioning this guy if they aren't already.  They key for the Falcons is consistency... they beat some good teams last year but flopped in small games.

Ok, I just had to say something in this thread after reading all of the posts.  Vick has been criticized mercilessly by critics and you haters (I stress haters for a reason) about how he can't throw the ball.  That all he does is dance around the pocket and that his career pass rating is low.  News flash!  He has no receivers! (I disagree with the other poster saying that Jenkins and/or White are good receivers, LOL)  How can he be effective throwing the ball if his receivers can't catch a ball as much as catching a cold and their leading receiver is a tigh end?  There is a problem if your tight end is the leading receiver on your team.  So he is more effective scrambling and he is able to make plays with his legs.  What options does he have?  You can't fault Vick for the Falcons failure to go deep in the playoffs.  There were some games this past season which Vick has shown many of you haters that he can acutally sit back in the pocket and throw four TDs.  He wasn't consistent but how can he be if he can't throw it to a receiver with hands?!  Joe Horn is a great addition.  So now he can sit in the pocket more.  Randy Moss would fit well with the Falcons in my opinion if they could get him.  It would be great to have him line up opposite of Horn. But the point is, if Vick had receivers like a Wayne/Harrison, or Johnson/Houshmanzadeh (Forgive me if I spell it wrong), he would put up big numbers.  If you haters would stop and think for once, just maybe you would realize it.

Now we will find out if it really is Vick or his WR's. Joe Horn is a stud so he won't be dropping many (if any at all) balls so if Vick can't get it to him we'll know what the real problem is (I personally hope Horn and Vick rock because I think Vick is a good QB).

I wouldn't call it a stellar signing. Didn't he fail his physical?

Yes, there were rumors on that and I assume that is why he was cut.

Agreed. If he doesn't perform this year I can't see the Falcons sticking with him any longer.

It's not an excuse.  It's a fact.  Give him weapons to throw to and he can succeed.  If he doesn't have any threat on the outside, why shouldn't he scramble and gain another 1000 yards on the ground?  Just because they signed Horn doesn't mean you can start setting high expectations for Vick.  They still need one more WR to complete the offense.  Randy Moss would be huge if they can get him.  But Al Davis wants too much for his players.

Now cant hear anymore excuses for Vick not excelling this year and going deep in the playoffs.mrgab

Being a Falcons fan myself I'm very excited about this pickup. Joe Horn is a veteran reciever and tthats exactly what this team needs, a receiver that knows that game well and can teach the young ones.

This is great news for any Falcons fan (like myself). The one negative I can see though is Horn getting POed when Vick runs the ball more than he passes.

he wanted to leave and try to find another team because he felt like sean payton didnt want him here, he said he felt left out of sean paytons future plans for the saints. im from new orleans and i love joe horn, but its the nfl and things like this happen all of the time. i say good luck to him, but the falcons will be 0-2 against the saints in this upcoming season.

nice pick, but it all rely's on Vick. One day he's a heat seeking missle launcher and then other time's he's launching scud missles that miss it's target.

agreed. Whenever brian finneran caught the ball it was almost always for either for a 3rd down or a TD. + Joe Horn + the younger receivers being mentored = a better receiving core for the Falcons. Not the greatest, but better than last year.

Im not a huge Vick fan, but it's just so obvious why he hasn't had much success.  People need to stop bashing him just because their favorite QB isn't as agile.  If he gets the WRs and he fails then I'll be the very first to admit he just can't deliver when his team needs him the most.  It's just so foolish to compare his numbers to Brady and Manning when they have/had stud WRs.  So if Vick can't throw it, do you want him to be another Bledsoe and just get sacked?  No I don't think so, he should run it.  The Falcons need another WR to solidify their offense.  That's why Oakland needs to stop being greedy and trade Moss to Atlanta.  He added something new to the QB position.  Sure, its the QBs job to sit back in the pocket and throw but adding the fact that he can scramble with WR speed is something defenses need to worry about.  Challenge defenses.
