Just wondering, Who do you think will be 1st pick?

I am thinking it will be....Jamarcus Russell.

P.S. - I'm hoping my Vikings will get someone good.

I really hope Berman doesn't spoil every pick again this year. I remember last year(and maybe years before that), he'd always hint who the pick was before the team picked him.

(Example: This year, if he says something like, "Well, it looks like the fisherman from Wisconsin is going to Arizona)

I've actually heard two possible scenarios.  I'm a Browns fan, so one of these came from a local radio show.

The first is the obvious one that everyone is talking about.  The Raiders taking JaMarcus Russel.  I think this one is the most likely because from everything I have heard, Art Shell ( or maybe it was Al Davis, I don't remember who ) really likes JR's long ball threat.

The one possible scenario I heard here on my local radio station is Cleveland trading Braylon Edwards to Oakland and switching spots.  Cleveland would go to #1 and Oakland to #3.  Randy Lerner apparently has some kind of man-crush on Russel as well.  Personally I think this would be a disastrous move for Cleveland.  This would give them basically three rookie quarterbacks, and still nothing resembling a decent offensive line.  I really want Cleveland to take Joe Thomas.

I think Al Davis has been hoodwinking everyone and the Raiders are taking Calvin Johnson instead of Russell. They'll trade Moss before the end of the day.

Decessus, I'm here in Detroit and your last post made me laugh! It's tough being a Browns or Lions fan and I feel the same way. I don't care if people think the #2 pick is too high for a lineman, I want Joe Thomas too. It all happens in the damned line!

No doubt.  Although, at least we don't have Matt Millen for a GM, so in that respect I have a little bit more sympathy for Lions fans.

Oh, and you can find some good OL talent in the later rounds.  The Saints picked Jahri Evans in the 4th round and he started every game at RG.  They also picked Zach Streif in the 7th round, and he stepped in one game for Jammal Brown and held Simeon Rice nicely.

no they didn't, there has been no word on who the pick will be, plus the raiders are still considering trading there pick away.  i'm a lions fan myself, and i will be thrilled if the raiders don't take russell and the lions get him!  other then that, i want Thomas or Adams.

Yes, but as Decessus said, we have Matt Millen picking for us. In fact, he's so bad that when Lions fans watch the draft and we pick (let's say Calvin Johnson) Lions fans response isn't "great pick" but rather "wow, I didn't realize Calvin was gonna be such a bust". If the Lions draft you, you suck.

Not thrilled. I understand we might need him, but we've taken way too many WRs in the last 4 or 5 years (Rogers, Roy & Mike Williams). At least he'll be good with Hail Mary throws:roll:We all know how many of those they'll have...

There is talk that they might have made a deal with Tampa Bay.  Tampa might take Adams, and then trade Adams for Johnson.

he might be smoking weed in a bar in 2 years, but it wont be with any lions.  i have faith that they took him merely to trade him.  but if not, he is in a class all of his own.

Harsh judgment based on info that was leaked days ago. Randy Moss lost his scholarship at Notre Dame because of Marijuana. Drug offenses in NFL = 0, and Calvin has a much better personality and attitude than Randy.

I'd like to see them get either Chris Houston or Aaron Ross at 24 and maybe a linebacker or safety at 28.  If they draft Posluzny I'll puke.

I'm not that surprised. They'll take a QB in the 2nd such as Edwards, Stanton, or Beck.

P.S. It look like we have this year's official top 5 free fall. Last year Leinart, before that Rodgers. It seems like we have one each year now.

No way is this a horrible pick.  Cleveland has no offensive line.

I think Frye, while not a superstar quarterback, can at least be a manageable quarterback as long as he has a decent offensive line.

[QUOTE="PatsFanVince"]Horrible pick by the Browns good luck with Frye and Anderson they'll need it.Decessus

No way is this a horrible pick. Cleveland has no offensive line.

I think Frye, while not a superstar quarterback, can at least be a manageable quarterback as long as he has a decent offensive line.

Detroit doesn't have an O-Line, either. I figured they'd take him.

That may be true, but you dont pass up on Calvin Johnson if you can get him.

True, but I think the Lions are going to be working on the defense with there draft selections.  I think they are trying to work out a deal with Tampa Bay to get Gaines Adams.

What do the Raiders do next ?

Take a chance with Dwayne Jarret (wr/usc) if he falls or the best wideout available ? Moss is not going to last forever.

Take the best offensive lineman available ?

Take the best running back available that can be a starter for them in the next couple of years ?

Defense ?

[QUOTE="das_beck"][QUOTE="geaux321"]Oh, and you can find some good OL talent in the later rounds. The Saints picked Jahri Evans in the 4th round and he started every game at RG. They also picked Zach Streif in the 7th round, and he stepped in one game for Jammal Brown and held Simeon Rice nicely.VERS1ON

How do you feel about this pick bud?

Calvin Johnson will be smoking weed with Mike Williams and Chuck Rogers in a bar on Football Sundays within 2 years...

Harsh judgment based on info that was leaked days ago. Randy Moss lost his scholarship at Notre Dame because of Marijuana. Drug offenses in NFL = 0, and Calvin has a much better personality and attitude than Randy.

I'm not saying he'll be out of the league in 2 years because he admitted to smoking weed, that's not a big indicator of future success. What IS a HUGE indicator of future success is if Matt Millen picks you! MM is nearly automatic with picking busts, Roy Williams is his only mistake.

I'm not surprised by the Browns pick. Crennel is the HC and he's a trenches kind of guy.

Im personally hoping that New England trades for Randy Moss so with that said I think they'll draft a receiver next maybe Robert Meachem or Sidney Rice.  They could also get Jason Hill in the 3rd round.

Yes!!! Cleveland took Joe Thomas.. I am so happy about this. To me it shows that the organization wants to build from the inside out instead of the outside in.Decessus
That's how you do it! Good pick for the Browns.

Adrian Peterson for Arizona ? That would be huge for them if they go that route.

Look for a trade between Tampa Bay and Detroit.

Arizona is the first real wild card here. They needed Joe Thomas. Its too early to get Levi Brown.

Okoye?
Anderson?
Landry?

All are needs . . .

Trade back?

I doubt it.  They have Edgerrin James, plus the rookie A.J. Schable.Â
