Against those two teams I think I would start this team:

  • PG: Oscar Robertson
  • SG: Michael Jordan
  • SF: Larry Bird
  • PF: Tim Duncan
  • C: Hakeem Olajuwon

I will share my thoughts on your two teams later.

As for the coaches I would prefer a coach who has witnessed the evolution of the game, who had an understanding of all schemes and strategies developed through out the history of basketball. With that in mind, I would substitute Red with Greg Popovich.

Lets talk about the first team. I personally don't like unconventional point guards like Magic, I prefer a more prototypical one including being good to great 3 point shooter to space the floor. In my team I have good long range shooters like MJ and Oscar and a great 3 point shooter in Bird.

Curious to hear your thinking in putting Kareem at PF? Wouldn't he clog the lane with Wilt? Just to have a size advantage? I prefer Duncan and Olajuwon since both can play in the post and a little further if needed.

On the second team I don't like Russell at center. I be honest and say that I think Russell would just be a defense oriented center in this day and age. The dude was a bad FT shooter (common for centers) and a 44% FG shooter. That wouldn't cut it today. Plus he is listed as 6-10, not impressive.

As presented, I would take team 1 to win. But I don't particularly like either one.

But I see he has admitted he was closer to 6-10, no matter, he can stay at C on my team or switch with Duncan if needed.

2 inches do not matter much if you are quick, strong and have good feet.

pft....a lucky shot by Robert Horry and that BS in game 6. The Kings would have won in 6.
