The Yankees are currently 5 games out of first and 1 game under .500 (14-15).  What can we expect now that Clemens is a Yankee?

I still don't think they'll make the playoffs.  They are still too old, and there is no reason to think that Clemens will dominate in the AL like he dominated the NL last year.  He's a year older, and he hasn't pitched in the AL for 4 years.

I think they may make the playoffs, but it won't be because of Clemens.

Same as above, I say they make the playoffs. Clemens is a good pick-up but he's 45...come on he's not going to single handedly win them a championship.

roger clemens wont be as good as he was last year but he will have a sub 3 era and will win 14-16 games which will propel the yanks into the world series and give them a damn good chance to win it b/c the best team in the nl is prob the mets and they dont have pitching that can handle the yanks lineup

I think a realistic expectation from Roger Clemens is someone who will give them 11-13 wins, and have a 3.50 to 4.00 ERA. Which is something the yankees need right now. The thing with the yankees is that you just don't know, they are doing pretty well after a really bad start, and wang and mussina are finally healthy. With the addition of Clemens at the end of the month, they should have a rotation like this:

1. Wang- likely 17-18 wins, low 3 ERA

2. Clemens- 11-13 wins, mid 3's ERA

3. Pettite- 14-16 wins, mid-high 3's ERA

4. Mussina- 12-15 wins, low-mid 4's ERA

and then a returning Phil Hughes, and I guess Kei Igawa. That is a very good rotation which could match up ok with the Red Sox in the postseason. You just never know.

It's hard for me to believe that 7 out of 15 people really think the Yankees will win the WS.  That shows me that there are too many biased NY fans in these forums.

The Rocket helps but not so much that they are going to win the World Series.  They'll make the playoffs but lose in the first or 2nd rounds.

Also, they wont be making the playoffs. As mentioned before this team is too old, that will catch up to them down the stretch.

Second base, but they'll realize it's awkward with their hand on his boob, then they'll break up.

With the Yankees getting Clemens this might help them get the wild card but they can not win the division though...

Clemens will get 10 wins, perhaps more. His pressence will help motivate the team and help the younger starters as well. And if he can get back into pitching shape, will give them 6+ innings a start, which will help the bullpen.

I'm not sure how much he is going to help the young guys.  ESPN is reporting that he isn't going to be around much.  As in, he won't be with the team unless he has to pitch or throw a bullpen, so maybe twice a week.

with 24 starts (that's assuming that he'll start all 24) I don't think he'll win more then 11-12. Why pay this mercenary (and he says it's not about the money---what a joke!) all that money to win 12 games? I think the Yankees panicked when they should of just waited. It's not like they're 10-15 games below .500. And the pitchers they have now are doing a decent job keeping them close to reaching the .500 mark. This guy has the biggest ego in baseball--with all the perks he wants and gets.  And people say "NO ONE IS ABOVE BASEBALL"---yea right.
