Pitchers and Catchers start reporting in less than one week :D

I'm pumped. Yanks for #28.

Hope Hafner can produce. With the short porch in right, he could have a good year. Still need an everyday catcher.

Can't wait for the season to get underway. Going to be a great season. Very high expectations on Gibby and the team.

Shame about Chris Carpenter though. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8917882/chris-carpenter-st-louis-cardinals-likely-pitch-season

Not necessarily.  They were only 6 games under .500 last year.  Division realignment alone makes up for that difference.  Last year's team could've been over .500 if they got to play the Astros 18 times.

#6 Posted by 36Ounces (2065 posts) -

Hell yea, can't wait to see what my team look like this year.

Ryan Braun has been connected to the Biogenesis clinc, surprise, surprise

Boston_Boyy

I knew I should worried about drafting him in my leagues :| As for real baseball, MLB is begging the Feds to get involve. They really want to get these guys.

#9 Posted by X360PS3AMD05 (36298 posts) -
Say it aint so Joe!! I thought Braun was clean.......... In good news it appears some people complained when MLB Network left the crawler up during A League of their Own and this week they removed it again for Eight Men Out on Bleacher Features.
#10 Posted by yokofox33 (29402 posts) -

Braun was never clean. He got off on a technicality even though he tested positive. I hope all these guys get severely punished, but in reality they'll get a slap on the wrist even if convicted.

#11 Posted by Master_Live (14242 posts) -
If Braun is 50 Games out the Brewers would probably be done.
#12 Posted by 36Ounces (2065 posts) -

haha wasn't surprised to hear bout Braun. He probably been doin it since his days at Miami.

#13 Posted by ps3theJT (1137 posts) -

Go Dodgers, I think we win the west. Hopefully Matt kemp could stay healthy this year. Favorite player to watch.

#14 Posted by Oleg_Huzwog (21885 posts) -

It's February, and Michael Bourn is still unsigned?  At this stage, is he now waiting for someone to get injured during Spring Training in hopes of a team making a panic move and offering him far more years and dollars than he's worth?

#15 Posted by Namgis (3575 posts) -

At this point, the 50 game first time suspension doesn't seem to a big enough deterrent. I would up that to 100, then 250 and finally banned. I know the union wont go for it, but the policy isn't doing squat. Clean up the game or just open the gates and have a separate wing in the HOF for these guys.

Yankees' Alex Rodriguez thinks his team and Major League Baseball are out to get him after recent PED scandalNYDailyNews

I think he's right. The Yanks would be daft not to be looking long and hard at getting out of his remaining deal. 100+ million dollars they'd clear from their ledger.

Felix Hernandez and the Mariners have replaced the last 2 years of his current contract, and agreed to a new 7 year / $175 million deal.  Highest paid pitcher in history.  Awesome.  Worth every penny.

Why second? Dude's dating Kate Upton.

Probably since his contract is coming up soon and they ditched the King's final years and gave him a huge extension. JV should soon top this deal if Detroit is smart.

Him, Price or Kershaw should make $200 million, easy. Maybe all 3.

I like how the Dominicans bunted with 2 on and nobody out with Hanley at the plate  They played for one run and that's all they got, then Mexico won the game. Bunting...esp. with good players at the dish, beautiffuuuuullll

No, he wouldn't. He deserves it though, IMO. And the M's and Felix deal isn't done. It might actually fall apart to an "elbow issue"

I don't think the Mariners ever announced it...it was just about bunch of "sources" from reporters saying it was done, or near done.

Finally, have him on my keeper league and was worried about him....now unto the real world, Indians might have a decent offense with Santana, Cabrera, Swisher and now Bourn. Still, maybe only better than the Twins on that division.

the only pitcher i would give it to is kershaw only because of how good he has been, his age and what ballpark he pitches in. i would say verlander to if he was like 2 years younger

That's all he got? Why didn't he just resign with Atlanta? Must've held out thinking he was going to get more, and then settled when he didn't get any bigger offers. Definitely surprising.

I heard on MLBN radio he was asking the Braves for 15M+ before B.J Upton. The market for him really crashed after Upton's deal...
#31 Posted by GamerForca (7079 posts) -
That's about what I figured. Looks like he screwed himself. Probably could've gotten 14/year from the Braves. Oh well.

yeah....I am not sure if I'd want to sign Bourn to that, unless the Braves would get the 1st half Bourn for the whole season. ESPECIALLY since he's getting up there in ages, and his legs won't be the same at the end of the contract. Different topic: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/fantasy/dc/ I don't see this as being completely accurate. I expect more from the Jays, and I doubt the Nats and the Braves finish below 90 wins.

I just don't see them as a good team. They are improved..but so are almost every other team in the East. And those predictions...I don't get. Toronto behind all those teams, with Boston and TB getting 86 wins? I think we can get 90 wins which should win the division. I'm not all that impressed with NY, but they're NY...they'll be good. Also think Nats and Braves wil get 90+ wins, and Oakland will finish 2nd in the West. Everything else is pretty good. Chicago may be better than Cleveland as well
#35 Posted by Master_Live (14242 posts) -
I put more weight on the positional standings than the records. I'm guessing they are trying to be conservative. Still, I don't agree with some choices.
#36 Posted by X360PS3AMD05 (36298 posts) -
Hopefully the M's don't go down the road of the Rox or Twins. Fat contract to one guy (they were at least position players) and down the toilet. Clubhouse confidential tells us the Red Sox and went right out and blew the $50 Million saved from the big trade last summer, wth are they trying to do over there? Keep the fans from rioting for just a few years until they have good homegrown players i guess? Following up on the adjusting of fences http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/moving-the-fences-a-follow-up/

Red Sox will be a .500 team this season imo. All those vets signed are just place holders until the Sox can develop their prospects and get rid of the rest of the terrible contracts.

Unlike the Rockies, the Twins fvcked up giving a big contract to Mauer. Mauer never had the track record of a Mike Piazza level so IMO he never warranted the contract that he was given. On the other hand Tulo and Cargo are worth the investment for the Rockies. Both young, high talent position players signed through their primes. If Colorado can't attract pitchers or develop them that isn't CarGo's or Tulo's fault.

I don't put any stock in that sh*t. In baseball you never know what's gonna happen.

Pretty good showing for the Sox, would be better if Jose Iglesies production hadn't fallen of a cliff though.  On a sidenote has Baseball America updated their website layout since the late 90s?  Because it certainly doesn't look like it.

A grand total of one White Sox prospect. That's about par for the course

Unless I counted wrong, NYY has a total of 4 on that list. I thought they'd fair a little better.

Could be worse. Gary Sanchez is looking good, we need a catcher ASAP.

Since we got rid of almost every one of our top prospects except Sanchez, Gose and Stroman, I'm not expecting much anymore... And I was right. I see 4 or 5 former Jays on there though. What a system we had.
