Looks like GM Reese means business for the new year..As a Giants fan I was embarrassed to see them play the way they did the second half of the year

Horrible move really now they have even greater needs along with running back and offensive line that is if shaun ohara doesn't re-sign.  Maybe they'll use some cap to get Briggs or June but I dont get the Arrington release I know he gets hurt a lot but they dont have a lot of depth at that position and what if Briggs and June get signed by someone else that doesnt leave many options.

For a second I thought the giants hired Floyd Resse as their GM. I had no idea they hired someone already for the GM.

wonder if they at least tried to trade one for a draft pick and had no nibbles.

You think the Giant's front office will test the free-agent market to replace these players or instead, through the draft?

I'm actually rather glad they got rid of Luke Petitgout. He seemed to be one of the most penalized lineman I ever saw. Don't get me wrong, it's going to be tough to replace him because quality left tackles don't grow on trees, but I don't think he was a quality left tackle.

I believe that Arrington got released in Washington due to attitude problems. I wonder if those same problems persisted in New York.

I think they will go in the free agency for their linebacking core and offensnive line but the draft for secondary

He didn't play long enough to have attitude problems. Plus, he was even staying in the North Jersey area during the offseason so that he could rehab at the stadium. So its not like he wasn't committed and I'm sure his teammates liked the fact that he was committed. Plus, his contract is mostly incentive based. So even if he got injured after a couple of games again, or if he really didn't do as good as he used to, the giants really wouldn't be paying him that much. I don't like that move at all. I like getting rid of Emmons and I'm on the fence with the releasing of Petitgout. Who is going to replace him? I know he was getting older and he had a couple of problems with his back, but he is still good and is better than anyone the giants have right now. These are some very bold moves made by Reese and Coughlin. Hopefully they work out for the better.

I heard on the radio that they may be concerned about the severity of Luke and Lavar's leg injuries..And seeing as how they were paying 49 million/year for 7 years, and his history of injuries, they probably thought better about they deal...These releases do leave them a little thin, but apparently they have a game plan in mind for making some changes, and I as a Giants fan hope its for the better..I am willing to give GM Reese the benefit of the doubt..

IMO, there are lot of holes on this Gaints team. Hopefully, they'll fix the majority of them with the upcoming and maybe sign key FA in the process.

*Reason why I'm saying this is the Giants are the only team I can put up with in that division :)

i like the moves, they need to sign a CB, even if they have to pay top $ for him. No CB's out of the draft are not gonna be ready to start till 2 or more years and plus the giants suck at drafting CB's. i personally think briggs is a little over rated, i would want him on my team but proubley not at the price he wants, and i like june but he is undersized and the giants have a lot of undersized players on there defense already. the need to sign a CB and LB in free agency and i hope they draft a linebacker in the 1st, eather willis form old miss, or that guy from penn state. and they need to draft a small speedy back in one of the mid rounds the take some load of jacobs, besides that i dont care who they draft. i guess for LT they will slide dehil over? idk if i like that or not. Ps. nice BJ sig

I agree 110%. We should try signing Clements or (if avalible) Asante Samuel. I am tired of our crappy secondary and I think the whole defense is.

Of the three releases, Petitgout comes as the biggest surprise to me.
