Panthers start off with a nice victory. Tim Thomas' return to the NHL was a glorious one and rookie Sasha Barkov scored in his NHL debut (game tying goal to boot).

Looking forward to the home opener since I have season tickets.

Who knows. Maybe they can do better than the Marlins and Jags.

The Pens beat the Devils 3-0.

Fleury had his 24th career shutout and 250th career win.
Crosby got his 666th career point.
Craig Adams played his 800th game and scored his 50th goal of his career.

I'm not an hockey expert, but what are the chances the local Blackhawks repeat?

Every team has a 1 in 30 chance at the beginning of the season since there are 30 teams in the league.

If they could go back to back we don't know since it hasn't happened since they introduced the salary cap after the 2005 lockout.

That's not a far off conclusion. They probably won't be great, but anything is better than those two. At best they sneak in with the 7th or 8th seed.

I like what I've seen from my Avalanche in the first two games. Patrick already getting in verbal spouts with opposing coaches  I love it!
