The news broke just after 2am PST and I stayed up another 3 listening to TSN radio because I couldn't sleep lol. I can't wait until the puck drops, but I'm still not buying any merchandise for the rest of the year. They already have our money regarding tickets, but they won't be getting any more of it for a while.
My hope is that opening night is the 15th, but I guess we'll see. Just happy it's finally back, at least.
Still waiting for a Seattle franchise, I don't want to get invested in the league until we have a team.monkeytoes61
I'd certainly root for them in the West, but if they ever faced the Devils in the Finals, rooting against the Devils simply wouldn't happen. Still, I reeeaaally hope Seattle gets a team already.
They want the season to start either the 15th (50 games) or the 19th (48 games). All depends when the deal is ratified and training camp starts. I expect with all those rumors that Luongo will be traded before training camps open. Maybe not Toronto as reported, but somewhere. Now that the season is a go, I have something else to be totally angry at and miserable about: the Leafs actually playing :PWhen is opening night anyways?

Before the lockout there were Luongo to Florida rumors aplenty.

Yup. And during it, lots of Luongo to Leafs. Wouldn't be surprised if they keep him but who knows. This from Elliote Friedman: NHL sends memo to clubs indicating no camps before Saturday (and may not open until Monday), 48-game season to begin Jan. 19"Each team plays: 4 games vs. two Divisional opponents (8); 5 games vs. two divisional opponents (10); 3 games vs 10 Conference rivals (30)"- FromBob McKenzie's Twitter feed.
Should be interesting.
Even though I had essentially written the season off I am excited to have it back. Hopefully the Avs put together a decent season even if its a bit shortened. I'm giving them a range of 7th-11th in terms of where they will end the season in the Western Conference.
Not surprised Toronto fired him, though the Leafs were a few wins from making the playoffs.Los9090Not surprised he was fired, very good reason to. Just shocked at the timing. New ownership has every right to fire him, from the bad record and no playoffs, to he just wasn't their kinda guy. I don't think he should have been fired, and given another couple months (hell, JFJ got a longer tenure here and Howson has a job) but I guess they were going to fire him so might as well do it now rather than have him deal with the deadline and UFA's. And if they make the playoffs, would get a bad reaction from fans if they still did it. And I've heard interim used, but to me it seems that Nonis is his replacement, full time? I did read from John Shannon that he thinks Nonis won't be the GM in the fall. What a freaking circus if true. And then other things I heard today..that Luongo may or may not have played a part, or that Gardiner may be traded from Luongo and Burke didn't want to but his inner circle did. Or that this was going to happen months ago, or he wasn't ever going to manager another Leafs game. Just..ugh.
I have to say that I'm happy the lockout ended. I'm definitely not paying for Center Ice or GameCenter anymore. Living in CA, and being a Red Wings fan means I don't catch many games on TV, but I'll be damned if I'm going to shell out $200 to the greedy peoples that comprise my favorite sport...cell_dwellerso true. myself, i'm trying to decide if i want to buy a jersey, or if that's just throwing money to them. =/
so true. myself, i'm trying to decide if i want to buy a jersey, or if that's just throwing money to them. =/jeffster85I've been looking to buy a house recently, and I wanted to have a "man cave" with all Detroit sports stuff. I already have a bunch of Red Wings memorabilia and souvenirs from games that I attended over the years. I was going to buy a bunch more stuff, but guess it'll all be Lions stuff...o joy... Also, when they come out to play Anaheim and LA, I usually go to the games. Not this year!
Bruins to start off against The Rangers on the 19th. A good first test. A rumor that we play the Leafs on the 21st. If so looking forward to it JohnBean and Gamer!Swanogt19Is that official or still rumored? I read about possible opening day matchups, but hadn't read yet if they were official.

Thanks for the confirmation. :) I should've deleted the post as I was able to confirm it myself mere minutes later, but I was lazy. Much appreciated.[QUOTE="Conscrumptured"][QUOTE="Swanogt19"]Bruins to start off against The Rangers on the 19th. A good first test. A rumor that we play the Leafs on the 21st. Can't wait to see how my Edmonton Oilers do this year. Lots of talent up front, hope we can get a good D man and goalie soon.

Saturday. So it has been reported that Thomas won't play this year for the Bruins. But is interested in coming back next year. Thanks Tim, but no thanks. As a Bruins fan I appreciate what you did for this team in getting us a cup. Though I respect your choice to sit out this year, you signed a contract to play for us and had one year left. Why not just sit out after it is done? I have faith in Tuukka and Khudobin. There are a fair amount of teams that need a goalie, look else where. However I will always be grateful for what you did for us. Swanogt19I don't get Thomas' reasoning here. I was never a fan of Scott Neidermayer taking time off after the Ducks won a Cup. I mean, unless of course there is an injury of some kind.
