Just for the hell of it I wanted to know: Most gamers hate fetch quests in games, just as much as they hate escort quests, or maybe more? I for one would rather do a fetch quest long before an escort quest, how bout you? Anyone would rather do a fetch quest rather than escort, or vice versa?

Fetch quests for sure.

Dead Rising made sure I'd never want to do another escort quest in a game ever again.

That depends on the execution of the escorting. If the NPC AI is well done (such as TLoU and RE4), I don't mind.

I generally despise fetch quests.

@DJ-Wolfman09:

Fetch quests are basic as hell and easy to make so I can see how developers have them in games. The only thing that really sucks about fetch quests is repetition. I don't really mind them but I do mind and hate with a vengeance playing babysitter and guarding helpless NPC's.

This.

I thought those in the RE series were well done. If they're done right, they aren't that bad.

@killered3: Pretty much my thoughts exactly, fetch quest are not that bad, yeah they're repetitious sure but when you get into a grove I find you kinda go into a zen like state and not really think about it (maybe it's that way for me) and you just do. Escort missions are more often than not an exercise in patience as the brain dead, helpless NPC slowly trots to their destination, sometimes veering off course for some inane reason and just proverbially curl up into the fetal position when enemies attack them.

I don't mind both actually as long as in Fetch quests there is variety and in escort I like how it is done in TLOU. The one escort in MGS3 was good as well.

Escort missions are one of the worst gaming sins. Especially when your entire game is one coughcough. So id prefer fetch quests any day.

Escort missions always end up frustrating me one or two ways, which tend to be way they are normally built up.

Either the escort is unable to defend themselves/Easily killed or abducted. Which means that attacking enemies will always make a bee line towards them rather then you. Which is why Resident Evil 4 really irritated the hell out of me.

And/Or their movement speed is entirely different from your movement speed and if you are too far away they simply stop, so you need to cling close to them and tap the movement key rather then hold it down.
