Will The Division live up to hype?

or flop like Watch Dogs, Destiny, etc? I'm talking about:

-world smaller than advertised

-small servers (6 PvP)

-graphics not up to par with demo vids

do you see these things coming true for The Division? It's my most hyped game and I've seen a lot of negativity surrounding it. Hoping it truly is a great game at release.

yeah watch dogs brought a lot of my next gen gaming dreams back down to earth with a bang. it was a harsh lesson in not falling for the hype that early demos create (i should have learnt that with ubisoft games after far cry 2 tbf). so none of the above would surprise me. but i could live with those things if the game was actually fun to play. watch dogs was such a big disappointment because it simply wasn't. it failed on so many fundamental levels. hopefully the same thing won't happen with the division

I don't buy games based off hype, I go with my own personal research. So far it looks like it will be a solid tittle....nothing inovative.

I was a fan but my expectations were lowered when they decided to include microtransactions.

Holy crap Lulu this I won't stand for lol. No one can judge The Division yet but if it lives up to half the expectations Destiny won't be able to hold it's jock. Destiny is a sham of a promise for a game. Heck, The Division > Destiny based just upon the 4 min 2014 E3 trailer.

I never saw anything impressive about it from the start. Never saw anything hinting at large open world, or large player count, etc. - it's probably going to be exactly what I imagined, a semi-linear low-player count coop or PvP game.

Look past the all the E3 window dressing and it pretty much is Destiny. You and 3 friends shoot stuff over and over again just to make numbers Go Up..... Theres nothing new or speciall about MMOs except now console gamers can take part in the tedium..... Together.

Me too I bought Destiny but I never hyped that game so I'm actually enjoying the game.

For the last time an average of 77 and 5m copies 1st week is not a flop. Destiny is already a new IP on par with the uncharted series.

The game is already profitable and since the game is "not like an mmo" expect:

• micro transactions
• DLC + DLC + DLC in the near future.
• $15 story expansion packs
• $10 new characters
• $10 dollar map packs
• $5 per vehicles
• basically nickle n dime

See Danny that shit above is the problem with gaming in general not some BS like -we gamers have different tastes so stop the hate- we always were a diverse crowd. Instead of getting the complete package like we used to how long does it take to beat Destiny? Yeah 10-16hrs. OK so lets pay up for the other half of the game and continue the endless grind until new DLC comes out. Yep that is the problem with gaming today in a nutshell.

I try not to hype games, so I'm not hyping this game up. I'm interested, sure, but I'm not going crazy over it. That being said, I hope the game doesn't disappoint.

They rely too much on an on-going community and smooth-running servers to be playable. But mostly because I just don't like not having the option to play a game by myself. Even if it is possible with these sort of games, they're designed to be played with others and just don't work very well solo. So I say that more as a personal preference than anything. I don't know if I can prove they're fundamentally flawed, but I just don't think full priced online-only games belong on consoles.

I don't think you've looked into the game enough. The game has plenty to differentiate it in terms of originality. Now I don't know much about MMO's but other than destiny (which is borderlands with no guns or flare and not really an MMO) it's the only shooter MMO I know of. The way the story is presented alone, makes the game different.

One doesn't have too look deep.... Soon as I hear "MMO" then its fate its sealed..... You loot and grind day in and day out.

Hmmmm... Fair Enough. Personally I just don't like it because these games can get alil to chaotic...... I want something alot more co-ordinated.
