Now i've to follow IGN or Gamesradar or Primaguides. Gamespot used to make cool guides before.
What you say , gamespot should making guides again ya ? :)

Games don't need em...they're built into the games.
but they're rarely helpful.
What do you mean? COD, Uncharted, Gears, etc etc etc--all these games guide the player through the experience. You die, you start two minutes back. The games that require guides, like Killer Instinct and Street Fighter, well I don't even think the staff would be capable of making them.

They used to make them. But considering, half of the staff is gone.... maybe you iz right.
They aren't needed. Someone on YouTube, Wikia, or GameFAQs can make as good a guide or a better one than GS. The market is already saturated to the brim with this stuff across various mediums. GS doesn't need to make them and it's not like they'd be filling some hole in the market even if they did.
Only RPG games needs guides and we have gamebanshee for that. Awesome site for guides and walkthroughs.

Bit off topic , what are your favourite rpg games? Seems you enjoy them a lot like me :)
Chrono trigger, FF6, Fallout, Dark souls series, Witcher series to name a few.

Haven't played CT or FF 6, you got good taste man. You must be very interested in Dragon Age Inquisition and The Witcher 3 too i presume, me too :)
For example, if I want to, let´s say, find all the treasures in any of the Uncharted games I just go to YouTube and at least 5 people have uploaded the locations and how to collect the treasures and this applies to practically any game. Hard to compete with YouTube don´t you think ? a smaller staff is better for doing more important stuff like reviews and such.
I offer the suggestion in "Features you want" thread that users should have the ability to make guides for this site. Here is what i wrote:
Maybe after there becomes a larger base of users (I should stay if, but I am being optimistic here) and major features return, you could re-add the ability for gamespot user submit guides. I know nowadays the guides that are listed in the "Cheats & Guides" section of every gamespace page are linked from GameFAQ guides, but I think it would be a good way to expand the community here on GameSpot. Having more activities for people to participate in, larges both the dedication and community. Have a separate set of moderators to edit and oversee finished guides, making sure they polished up and not copy and paste. A good way to reward users for submitting a complete guide is by allowing that user(s) to jump one whole level and earn special emblems for writing it. (When levels and emblems return)
This idea is definitely something that should done very later, after other features return. But it is something to think about.
Good idea?
