I remember them quite fondly. Especially 2, which added the whole RPG element of talking to friendly NPCs in the castle. 1 was good but it was basically just a really cool dungeon crawler.

I do. I thought it was pretty novel until Wolfenstein 3D came along.

i liked might and magic 3 and clouds of xeen more because it had more varied areas. Ultima Underworld took place all underground from what i remember and it was too dark everywhere.

I can't remember if it was similar movement to might and magic by grid movement or if it was full open movement.

I may revisit Ultima Underworld though someday and give it another go.. its been a very long time since i played it and i may actually like it more now.
