for me of course would've been Ratchet & Clank 2 and 3. yet the last known R&C I played before I abandoned the pity PS2 was Deadlocked, too bad that last game I played was competition-tainted and I don't have a second to use the trusty starship on every occasion...I lost track of him since that dreadful moment,so I don't know much of him lately

@Smashbrossive50: the games got better after that and then became crappy for 2 more iterations and now there back to the classics

I love the way the games were presented in a completely unbiased fashion.

Crack In TIme was cool. You got to play as Clank a bit which was kinda cool and the hover board was awesome. It also looked very pretty. I've only played the PS3 iterations, I still liked all 3 of them (yes that means I liked quest for crap)

The two top R&C games for me are Up your Arsenal and A Crack In TIme. Crack in Time easily wins for me though.

Playing the the HD collection made me realize that I cant really enjoy the game play for the first 2 ratchet and clank games anymore. If it wasn't for nostalgia (and trophy whoring), I probably would have skipped both on the HD collection.

2 and 3 felt really ahead of their time. They had achievements before there were achievements. And real rewards for doing them, but those were an addition to the already great gameplay and even without the bonus costumes would have been enjoyable tasks to complete.

I picked 2 in the poll because I think it had the best villain of the series. The levels were well designed, made the most of the gameplay, and the whole thing has this brilliant artistic design that I just never tire of. Some of the jokes will fall flat on anyone picking them up today for the first time, but in the moment of playing 2 and 3, they were the best of their breed. Hands down some of the most fun I had with my Playstation 2.

EDIT: Crud. After reading @Floppy_Jim's post I remembered that Nefarious was the villain of 3, not 2. Well, "remembered" is a stretch. He said it then it dawned on me that I'm an idiot. I played them out of order, (2, then 3, then 1) hence the error. Curse my aging brain. Also: Get off my lawn you darn kids!

The top three for me are 2, 3 and Crack in Time.

2 introduced upgrades, XP, arenas, spherical worlds and lock on/strafing.

3 didn't add as much other than Qwark comics, Horde type side missions and the ship but made improvements elsewhere. Also Nefarious.

Crack in Time added space travel and Clank sections keeping the prolific long running series from feeling stale.

2 & 3 for me. I would probably pick 2 as my favorite. One of my favorite platformers of all time and just a plain fun game. its like they put crash and spyro together with guns, i loved it.

The best are Going Commando and Tools of Destruction, though the main games are great. I chose Going Commando for one simple thing: level design. It has the best level design in any platformer I've ever played. The story was great, gameplay was smooth and amazing, and it was pretty goddamned challenging... well, challenging isn't the word so much as "insanely-brutally difficult".
