Poll Which game genre do you find the most boring? (115 votes)

Racing/driving 10%
Fighting 4%
Sports 27%
Shooting 9%
Action-adventure 0%
Role-playing 6%
Life simulation 20%
Platformers 1%
Puzzle 9%
All genres/games tend to be fun, even if it gets a little too hard or too long 12%
I hate video games in general so all 2%

I know that not all games can be considered boring, as their are exceptions to each genre. But which game genre do you think has the most boring games released

Basically I was gonna go with puzzle but I kinda like Tetris and Candy Swap, it is also starting to become one of my favorite genres. So I went with life sims.

Sports, no doubt about it. Ther eis just something about sports games that never jelled with me, maybe my absolute lack of interrest in sports irl either? :P

Not that you can not make an interresting sports game, you likely could, but the rules are pretty much set in stone, and rather inflexible.

But hey some people like those games, so they have justified thier existence, they are simply not for me.

Well, I'm not sure I've even tried all those genres.

But, as far as boredom goes, the winners would have to be life simulators, sports games, racing/driving and puzzles games.

God I hate puzzle games!

I was going to say sports but I love extreme sports like Snowboarding, Skateboarding, BMX, etc.

Simulation can get boring after awhile but there are times I've had fun messing around.

I guess all genres are great for something.

Moba´s that is without a doubt the most horrible concept ever made. Also cheap jump scare horror games only made for youtubers and twitchers is a concept that should die , like Five nights of crap.

All the rest are decent enough.

Pretty tired of shooters because they lack innovation and offer little new with each offering.

You should have included seperate options for JRPGs and WRPGs. I find JRPGs to be the most boring genre, but I love WRPGs, so I can't vote for the role playing option.

Racing because I have no interest in cars.

Fighting is a close second but that's only because I'm no good at them.

@Spinnerweb: yeah I can unerstand why some would love the sports genre despite is just recreating or simulating the practice or gameplay of sports in the gaming/virtual world.

1. The competetiveness. Sports games have similarities with other genres such as Racing(not including non-racing driving games such as Euro Truck Simulator and Crazy Taxi as those don't really have any competition/competitiveness in them), Fighting(then again there is boxing games and wrestling games which apperrantlly seem to fall under both categories), shooters and strategy games.

And

2. Sports fanship/enthusiasm. I know not all sporrs fans enjoy the genre. But some do it for the heck of it. Like me and I am huge Wrestling, Soccer(as I also call it "football") and Skateboarding and I play games based on those sporrs for the heck of it. Is like playing a sport without facing the consequences or problems that you get in the real world/life when playing sports like fouls and injuries.

As for the life sim genre. I don't see what is fun about it. There might be some exceptions. I've always to play The Sims and from what I've heard. Euro Truck Simulator is fun as heck(from what I've heard haven't played it yet and wanna try it out myself). It is kind of a driving game with the life sim aspect I guess. I have seen gameplay footage of Farming Simulator and it looks boring as sh't. Is like doing school in a game. That's no fun, but I challenge to see if I can challenge myself to unlock some achivements in my Xbox 360'with this game.

Had to vote for Racing, although I more specifically had racing sims in mind. I love playing the occasional arcade-y racer like Need for Speed or Burnout, but realistic driving games bore the hell out of me, and I'm not usually easily bored with games.

Whatever genre I don't play much of nowadays:

Fighting games, JRPG, WRPG with same old medieval settings (sword and shield, magic).

I also don't like life sims although I like flight sims and war sims.

Racing games are fine so long as I use a driving wheel with pedals. They're boring as hell with controllers or god forbid, mouse and keyboard.

Right now, Action/Adventure games, outside of a few Indie ones that implement platforming and horizontal progression, they feel shallow and deriviative intended for the masses.

I normally like Racing games for their depth and precision (I'm not talking about Casual Burnout / Criterion games, more with racing sims), but there hasnt been one that's interested me in terms of structure. That and I need to invest in a Gaming Wheel, too.

I think Sports games are great at parties and local muiltiplayer. NBA2K has more depth than Persona, DA:I and Pillars of Eternity.

The sports genre, hands down. I'm terrible at sports in real life due to mediocre motor skills and eye-hand coordination. Funnily enough, eye-hand coordination is fine when it comes to playing video games. Due to my lack of skill in sports, I have terrible sportsmanship since I get really mad, especially in badminton. **** you, badminton. I also find watching sports to be a drag too. All of this transitions to a feeling of boredom while playing sports games.

Now shooting people in a video game is a A LOT more fun. Almost all of my games have a shooting element to them.

@lucianocasanova: Oh, I thought you meant solely life-sims like The Sims or My Tribe which simulate life in its relative entirety. I've never enjoyed a single 'activity sim' like Surgeon Simulator or Fruitcake Simulator. Except, of course, Street Cleaning Simulator. I jest I jest :P

I've only played a few racing sims, Forza not being one of them since I don't own an Xbox of any kind. But I think it only took a few games from the genre to know it wasn't for me. I doubt I'd really enjoy whatever the best that genre has to offer.

Don't think there's a single genre I've played that doesn't have at least a few enjoyable games in it so I don't have any genre I hate but there are definitely genres that I don't go for often, like mobas and shooters. I'll still play them if the concept of a particular game seems interesting enough for me to give it a try though.

I hear that a lot actually since I have many geeky friends who are in to that sort of thing. I have had to define that for some of my friends. I like terrible B movies like Sharknado which appear on the sci-fi channel and things like that. I just dislike the terrible in depth explanations of scientific stuff like some movies get in to. If that makes sense.
