I am currently debating which console to purchase and keep changing my mind on a regular basis, The PS4 is cheaper and has better graphics, however I then change my mind when I look at the games where the XBOX seems to outshine its counterpart. I currently also own an xbox 360 and therefore part of me is dubious about switching to Playstation.

Finally is there a MAJOR difference between the PS4/Xbox One in comparison to the Xbox 360?

Is it worth the money?

Any help/advice is much appreciated.

Everything you'll want on a One, you'll get on Playstation 4 for a cheaper price with better specs.

The exclusives on PS4 are better too unless you mostly into FPS (Halo, Titanfall), Gears of War and Fable.

Ps + is also 10 times better than Live.

Get an Xbox only if you like it's exclusives a lot better, you're okay with the NSA spying on you, okayish-voice-commands to replace your TV remote and you're okay with buying a half-a-thousand-dollar console with a mandatory-yearly 60 $ fee just to keep your One alive.

And this to:

In the long-haul - Sony will have more exclusives etc etc.

That being said: more and more games are turning multi-platform such as Metal Gear and the Souls series.

If I were to buy one right now: it would be the 3DS :P

Not kidding. Lots of games for that thing now. Lot's of GOOD games.

Specs and data sheets are irrelevant. When picking a console there is only one question one ever needs ask themselves. Does this machine have games I want to play? Does it have them now? Will it have more?

If the answer is yes, then your question has been answered. If it's a "no", then perhaps it time to look at the other options. Or if neither is really blowing your mind, why not hold off. At least until we see what comes out of E3? Or look at a PC which is better than other options in most cases (unless you just really love Dead Rising or Halo or Uncharted or whatever).

Remember that the fluff is that that; fluff. The only thing you should let color your decision is whether or not this huge chunk of money you're going to spend will deliver games you think you will enjoy.

As the owner of a PS4 and an Xbox One, I can safely say that either choice is totally valid. Both have their strengths and their weaknesses.

Now is the best time to buy one though, it's cheap and so are all the games. Very worth it.

Souls series alone being worth it!

Cheers for the replies, was swaying towards the PS4 and it seems to be the popular choice, as I said was more dubious than anything about switching to Playstation and not knowing the quality of the online gaming etc

Xbox One is more of an all-in-one system. PS4 is meant for gaming with higher specs. Xbox One is weaker but is meant to be the center of the living room. I would recommend the PS4 since it's the better gaming console. Better games will come out for the PS4

Well, me personally, the single most important thing in a gaming console is whether or not I can I can watch TV with it. But that's just me.

It's been my experience that Sony has more first party/exclusives that I want than MS....I guess if your into FPS then MS might be more you liking....but considering most games are multi plats on both now....it's not necessary to have both. For the last two gens when MS has been in business....Sony has longer support for their consoles. And this gen...the specs are better and the console is less expensive. I plan on getting the PS4...and maybe....X1 if the price drops enough and MS shows me must have exclusives. Thus far....there isn't anything proposed to change my mind. But I hate not getting all the consoles...so if a price drop happens....I might pick it up....but that is probably years down the road....and only if it has games I can't get elsewhere.

That's just me though. What do you like?

Since BOTH Platforms have strong 3rd Party support, it really boils down on the Exclusives, Online Service and Controller preferences that YOU like.

Xbox One. It's UI is better, better online system, better exclusives at the moment and for what appears to be the distant future.

It costs more than the PS4 but you get what you pay for, the PS4 is pretty much a PS3 with better graphics, which while some people may like that crowd could easily buy a PC for the best graphics.

Xbox One offers a lot more than just games (Although it does do that area well) Microsoft appears to be working on a lot of IP's for the Xbox One, and more has been announced for it compared to the PS4.

Remember despite what people say, while Sony did release more PS3 support than Microsoft a lot of their titles sucked big time and are only used in arguments to say how many games they launched. Quality>Quantity.

I agree. c; The OP stated he had an Xbox 360 and is planning to switch to Sony's boat, so I don't think he has a Ps3.

Although I sort of see where you're coming with the 3DS perspective. It has tons of 2D RPGs (-- not my thing you see --) and Nintendo exclusives out for it. So if the OP favors that kind of thing, I think he/she should go for it.

I would've chosen the PS4 over the XONE, the argumentation is not necessary to repeat.

What type of games do you play? What titles are you fond of? Those should impact your decision. I would say an Xbox1 since you have a 360 already . Then you would be upgrading but with a PS4 you'd be starting over.

You should hold on a few months if you are going to buy an X-box to see if they start breaking, specially the controllers.

Hopefully they´ve learned from the last generation that they can´t get away with those fast-ageing controllers on a market where they have serious competition.

The X-Box is most likely a better all-in-one box though.

I will eventually gear towards the Sony route simply because they fixed what needed to be fixed in all of there other systems and they probably will stay true to keeping it that way, but ever since their downfall of "Anonymous" attacking and 360 getting the 3rd party creaters under their wing they won the last gen "Hardcore" race. I just want to know if microsoft will give us the option to transfer "Arcade" titles, I think that will be the only reason I will get an XBOX ONE simply because their interface in apps and arcade isn't jusr rereleased "Remixes" of old games they have a lot of micro producers and Sony well just needs that then Sony will definately be winning...

Playstation is more powerful, will have more games for it, is more indie friendly and has better multiplatform games. Xbox One has Kinect and the multimedia functions.

If you want to go for the exclusive on the X1, you should get it. But if you don't want only those exclusives and want more exclusives on the PS4 then go for it. In the end you buy that's best for you

This is something you have to research yourself... no use asking on here, that's for sure.

See which games you prefer, decide if the power difference between the two is a big deal to you etc etc.

i own nether ps4 or xbox one... but from all i've heard and read about them... the ps4 is superior technically. when compared to similar games on the xbox one, the ps4 games run at a faster framerate or a higher resolution. both consoles seem to have a DRM on/off switch so either company could screw the customer and enable it at anytime so in that way they are the same.

But pretty much the only reason to get a xbox one i can see, is if theres an exclusive game on it you cannot live without playing, like a new Halo or something like that... for me, i'm all Halo'd out so i won't have to buy an xbox again.

I think in the longterm, they both will perform games equally well if the games are properly designed for the console, it comes down to certain games you want to play on them... best to wait and see what comes out on them.

Definitely the PS4. Sony is my favorite console manufacturer, and no amount of pretentious sheep/lemming/hermit belittlement is going to change that.

If you're happy with Halo/Forza then stick with Microsoft consoles. PS4 will have superior multiplats and way more exclusives. Microsoft just doesn't spend enough time or money creating exclusives for their systems, they just let third party fill almost all of their systems libraries.

theres alot of biased opinions here, and mostly just bull crap,

i'd suggest if you still haven't made up your mind,

look at the list of upcoming games for both consoles, then mark down the ones that interest you,

go with the one with more games ticked,, its that simple,,

all that extra horsepower, resolution, or voice command and tv intergration won't mean anything if your not enjoying the games,

PS4 will have more games? I love how people know the future.

The best console is the one that has the games that you actually care for. One might have more exclusives, but the question is, do they even interest you? I suggest you wait, because right now, neither one has anything spectacular.

If neither console made you rush out and buy it at this point, I'd say you can probably wait some more until something does comes out that makes you go wow.

Right now, we're in that post-launch period where there's not much new happening. I bought a PS4 and love it. However, I'm playing my PS3 more, due to all the PS+ free games and discounts.

But really, the best answer is, do some research, and decide which console offers more of the games and services you're interested in.

PS4; in the long haul it'll be a better investment. If they continue selling at such a higher rate, then Sony could stand to land some decent third party deals. The One has strengths in media integration if that's more your style, though.

XBOX ONE:

snap feature to watch TV/Twitch/Internet Walkthroughs while playing games

better controller minus touchpad, so less buttons/fuctionality

better achievements with pictures

spotify is better then sony music unlimited

global twitch, its like PC twitch

more people with mics

more westernized exclusives like map packs and titanfall

easy to find and buy, good stock supply (why my friend bought one instead of PS4, couldn't wait)

bad interface

less powerful (shaders/OS takes alot of juice to run/xbox has a long boot up time/PS4 spec advantage is sizable)

more expensive + buying controller dock

PS4:

more powerful

watch porn on playstation live stream

more exclusives in the long run

psplus is better and cheaper, offers better free games

compatible with psvita

better UI

records gameplay for longer, easier to stream your game

controller comes with rechargeable batteries + wire for direct connection, has touchpad for more buttons, built in speakers that I never use because of headphones, and a light I never look at unless I see it through my TV glare

less expensive

sony makes good hardware, it won't break down usually

good support

less people with mics

less westernized games

doesn't have the awe appeal like the xbox one

hard to get, not in stock in alot of stores

I bought a PS4, because my xbox 360 died on me so I have been on PS3 for some time, so I have trophies and friends on there. I like RPG's and their indies are pretty good, like Journey. They have some big AAA titles like The Last of Us, but that is all I really like, I don't like uncharted. The PS4 is more powerful, so you'll get 1080p 60 frames. The difference for me between 720/1080 is really noticeable, but it's different for everyone. I think the PS4 is the better choice in the long-run, but in the first 1-2 years, you'll be happier with an XBOX ONE.
