:D Acclaim used to be pretty well known, but their popularity really went down, in my opinion, when they released Bart's Nightmare! What were they thinking? This game was utterly IMPOSSIBLE! Have any of you beat the game?

This is what I'll remember Acclaim for. Oh, and NBA Jam as well.
Acclaim does freeware MMO's nowadays. They fell off big time.bc1391
Is this even the same company, or did someone buy the name? Like Infogrames bought the name "Atari"?
I once read Chris Crawford talking about how some marketing guys believe that they can sell excement in a box. That was clearly the belief not merely of Acclaim's marketing team, but their programmers as well. The only memorable thing about Acclaim games towards the end was their sometimes gruesome (trying to pay poor families to put advertisements for Shadowman on tombstones) and always pathetic (BMX XXX's attempts to use sex to sell a garbage game spring to mind) ad campaigns. They were a good publisher once, but their demise was a good thing.
yeah wasn't it Acclaim that made the Vigilante 8 Series, and WWF Warzone, I'd like to see a new Vigilante 8 that would pretty damn awesome. Vigilante 8 is the only game that ever could hold a candle to Twisted Metal.HiResDes
V8 was made by Luxoflux... they too have fell off with the release of True Crime New York City...
Critical Depth and Rogue Trip were good, but those were pretty much made by the team that developed TM II

Someone bought the name and started up a new company under the same name after the first one went under. Please Log In to post.
