I think I spent all of last gen playing everything but found most games were a waste of time. Am I the only person that felt this way?

This gen it's

NBA 2k series

MLB The Show

Assassins Creed

That's about it for me. Played the elder scrolls games last gen. GTA. Saints row etc. I just found I didn't enjoy them that much.

I might give The Order a go this gen. Drive Club. Infamous is also worth playing imo. I wasn't a huge fan of the last of us.

Should be easier this gen I guess vs buying everything that gets a 9 or above. I think I've given up on GTA and Skyrim is also just way too massively engrossing.

I think Watch Dogs is the new IP I'm more looking forward to.

These would be my overall favourite franchises.

-Pikmin: completely unique and completely addicting to master

-Donkey Kong Country: Now that Retro's made two of the most perfect platformers in the history of gaming, DK's become the pinnacle of a genre

-Punch-Out!! : A very pure and to the point series that tests logic, reflexes, and precision.

-Street Fighter: My go to competitive game

No series I like has been consistently been good enough or had enough instalments to be my favourite, even though I might love individual games from those series.

I have so many favorites. I'll try to limit the list to my absolute mega favs.

  • Shin Megami Tensei
  • Pokemon
  • Mass Effect
  • Assassin's Creed
  • Pikmin
  • Valkyria Chronicles
  • Tales of series
#15 Posted by Kevlar101 (6204 posts) -

The Elder Scrolls, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry.

Most of my favorite games are not in a series in the LAST gen. Red Dead IS a series.....but there were only 2 games that were in completely different gens. The first game was in the 6th gen, and the second was in the 7th, so it's difficult to say if Red Dead counts or not.

Of course, there are other series that I am still yet to play (that I regret putting off for so long), like Bioshock, Dead Space, and Mass Effect.

@Celtic_34: Oh man... hmmm

Final Fantasy

Unchartered (even though I stopped playing the 3rd lol)

Tomb Raider (well only played the first 3 and the reboot and the isometric one)

Grand Theft Auto (wasn't crazy about 4 didn't play 5)

Shin Megami Tensei (I know - a WHOLE buncha games here. Mostly persona and anything with the word Devil in it)

Civilization (even Revolutions for the console! Didn't play the first 3 though )

Metal Gear Solid ( haven't played 3rd or portable ones)

Final Fantasy

God of War

Assassins Creed

Mass Effect

Final Fantasy
Kingdom Hearts
Batman: Arkham
The Legend of Zelda

  • Resident Evil
  • Halo

Those are the only two I've still consistently liked over the years. I stopped liking Legend of Zelda because Nintendo consoles blow, stopped liking COD for obvious reasons, stopped liking Pokemon once I realized ev's are a terrible gameplay element, and I stopped liking Kingdom hearts because handheld consoles are worthless.

Mass Effect FTW!
Metal Gear Solid
The Elder Scrolls
Half Life
Gears Of War
The Witcher
Resident Evil
Silent Hill
Tomb Raider
Dragon Age
Far Cry
Dead Space

Yeah, I like a lot of games lol

Metal gear solid and resident evil. I'm hoping they reboot resi with the next instalment though, it's very much needed. And I completely agree with you on skyrim being too much.
