in terms of old games or in general?

the game Im currently playing Sega Rally Online Arcade, but if youre talking about old games only, the last one I put any sort of considerable time into was Soul Calibur 2.

Currently playing through Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (for like the 100th time). It's interesting to go back and play PoP after all of these years and see how much Ubisoft Montreal carried over to the Assassins Creed series; the controls, platforming, and combat in particular.

I've been playing DRIV3R, Chrono Trigger, Call of Duty 1 and Suikoden Tierkreis recently. Also played a bit of Left 4 Dead 2, Revelations: The Demon Slayer and Super Mario Sunshine.

At the minute I'm not playing any legacy games. I am playing DRIVER San Francisco on the Xbox 360 a lot lately, and I plan to pre-order Gears of War 3 in the next 2 days (:D). But as for legacy games, the last game I played was Heart of Darkness on the PS1 which I completed for the first time (twice, actually), and it was pretty awesome :).

What's the deal with Driv3r? It got ripped to shreds by the critics, and from what I've seen, it has some of the most hilarious glitches I've ever seen! Is it as fun as the original two games?

It's definitely a very underrated game. Sure, it's glitchy, but it's not nearly as bad as the critics make it seem. Driver 2 was a lot more glitchy, and it was perfectly playable. If you liked the first two games, I definitely recommend it. It's not really that different from Driver 2, apart from the weapons. The shooting is nothing special, but it's not bad at all.

Overall, a pretty good game, even though Parallel Lines is better.

DRIV3R wasn't THAT bad. I definitely preferred the first two games, but it was a pretty decent addition to the series. I think the problem was that they tried to make it like a GTA game, which isn't what Driver was known for to begin with.

To answer the OP's question. If we're going by older systems, I've been playing Shenmue 2, or at least trying to play it. It's getting progressively better though. On the current gen systems I've been playing a lot of different games. I'm going to pre-order RAGE pretty soon which comes out next month and looks simply fantastic. I also have Skyrim pre-ordered, so I can't wait for that as well.

Yeah, that game is surprisingly fun considering you spend most of the time flattening bugs with a fly swatter! Saying that, I don't think I'd want to play through it again anytime soon. It's a shame that the PSP didn't get a properly good Crash Bandicoot or Spyro the Dragon game.

What the others have said, really. DRIV3R is actually one of my favourite Drivers simply because of how difficult it is (which is stupidly difficult at times :P). Even though the game does have it's bugs, every game does. The reason it probably got bad reviews was because the on-foot controls weren't great, but they weren't THAT bad. The car chases are great fun :). Free Roam is also really fun and perhaps the best free roam in every Driver game I've ever played. I just love the city, the sky (especially when it is orange), nighttime etc. and driving around in to buildings (and some mission areas) is awesome! Seriously, DRIV3R isn't that bad of a game, because as I said, it's one my favourites (but then again, I haven't completed the first two... will some day, they were always hard, but so is DRIV3R). Parellel Lines is a great game, but I don't find it to be as fun as DRIV3R. The story, cutscenes and locations just don't seem to be as fun as DRIV3R's, personally. I think of it as a classic game, regardless of the fact that it had many flaws. I know this is the Legacy Platform board, but I will add that the new Driver (San Francisco) that came out the other week is also awesome, but I'm still unsure on what is my FAVOURITE Driver. I'm going to have to re-play PL and complete the first two in the next few months to sort out my opinions on favourite to least in the Driver series :).

just playing Wipeout 2097 (XL) on the Saturn , not a bad game I have to admit, recommended.

odd thing is I didn't think much of the original wipeout

#24 Posted by Ashley_wwe (13468 posts) -
Yeah, there is something strange about Wipeout. I used to have it on the PS1, but even back when I was about 6-8 years old, I was still unsure about it. I think it was because it is really futuristic... or something.

I think it was the controls for me, the original Wipeout on PS1 had digital controls, which imo didn't help it. Wipeout 2097 on Saturn has analog controls, and that does help alot. its also interesting from the view that it has totally different music from the PS1 version, since the music on the PS was licensed by Sonic Music . only annoying thing is that the PAL conversion kinda sucks, its not optimized at all , has black borders on the screen and runs slower, and even has some slowdown. I actually switched my Saturn to 60hz mode, and the game was really smooth for the most part. its wierd because the people who did the Saturn conversion were Tantalus and Perfect Entertainment, which are Australian and British devs, so they should be aware of this. its funny but I did have a talk with one of the people who worked on this game a while ago ,pretty interesting talk.

Whoa. I am playing two out of three of these. Dragon Quest VIII it is my first time through. I am doing every side quest I run into but the only extra exploring I'm doing is accidental. This game is long enough as it is! I am a pretty throrough RPG-er in general though. Daxter is a great game. It is the first of the series I have encountered and I have a feeling I'll go through a few more.

As far as other games, I'm working on unlocking everything in WipEout: Pure on PSP and wheeling around some in Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 on GBA. The latter I got as a freebie w/ the GBA SP I bought a week or so ago. I put it in to check that it worked and got a bit hooked. I'm also trudging away through Zelda: II which I got for being a 3DS ambassador.

The difficulty curve is really something. I find my mind drifting towards brainstorming ways they could have made it equally challenging but less frustrating... Not always ending up at the very beginning of the game when you've died out, for example. Or having the Link 1-up dolls return after you've died out. Or letting you keep your exp. when you die out. Cripes! I'm surprised they don't take away all your power ups and spells each time you die three times...

the analog controls on the Saturn help, neither Wipeout or 2097 on the PS have that, though the PS1 wins in the transparency area, textures are bit better too but nothing major (they both run at the same res though). also, no silly advertisements on the Saturn , also different soundtrack (which is good or bad)

I am trying to get it at least mostly unlocked before I spoil myself w/ the downloaded content. I am not very far along just yet and this my first WipEout so I'm just getting my sea legs so to speak. Extremely addictive gameplay--though I think I am going to wind up throwing my PSP through a window if I get hit by another disrupter bolt while going around the last corner.

Yeah, I kinda rushed through my first playthrough of DQ VIII and didn't really take advantage of all that the game had to offer. This time through, however, I've realized that the game had a lot to offer, and that I played it with too much of a sense of linearity last time.

On the topic of Daxter, I too have not had much experience with the series, I got the first one for PS2 a LONG time ago and only played through the first hour or so before being distracted by other games. I'm hoping that after I finish up this one on the PSP I can go back and play through the series for PS2.

Crash Bandicoot 2 Bought a PSone (the slim one) today for a whopping 3 pounds. When I got it home, I found that the previous owner had left this game in there! Pretty good impressions thus far, though I prefer the free roaming gameplay of Spyro myself.

I completed Rogue Galaxy earlier today. An awesome game, but the ending really felt like a punch to the stomach. In fact, the last 10% of the game did overall; it was completely rushed. A lot of content is unlocked after finishing the game so I'm gonna be checking all of that out when I get a chance.

Been playing a lot of my NES lately with Blaster Master, Gremlins 1/2 and Shadowgate - great games.

That's about it for legacy games. I'm gonna start playing Enslaved: Odyssey to the West soon. I've heard a lotta' good things about it, so I don't know why it has took me so long to get around to playing it.

And LOVIN' it, by the way! Here's to rustic living and 'roughing it' on my older systems!

There are actually two games for console -

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" on Xbox, and then "Buffy: Chaos Bleeds" was made for XB, NGC, and PS2. Of the three, the XB and NGC versions are the choice games for graphics and over-all quality of the port, technically, but the PS2 version is quite playable. Also there have been a few well-received titles for GBA and DS, as well as a handful of other random mobile devices. "Chaos Bleeds" features most of the male cast voicing their characters with some pretty decent stand-ins for Sarah & Allison and the plot for the game is set between the fifth and sixth seasons if my inner Buffy fan remembers correctly. I heartily suggest "Chaos" to anyone as a fun action-adventure game, but especially if you're a fan.

:)

Good hunting!

Golden Sun 2 on GBA-SP

Madden 08 on PSP

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories on GBA-SP

That is pretty much taking all of my time right now.

I don't have any current gen consoles. I only play handheld, and I will absolutely NOT get a 3DS. The GBA-SP and PSP are my main systems I play. I'm not a huge DS fan, and really don't play that much.
