Why black?

A few PC games of variable age to the left for reference. The spines of my PS4 collection are depressing. Far Cry 4 and GTAV could easily have been much more striking colors. This is something that deserves much more attention than the lone-man-with-back-turned-to-camera trope people have been pointing out. That at least looks cool in a vacuum.

I agree the game art that used to come with games used to be better.

Yeah, box art used to be really cool. Same with instruction manuals. Instruction manuals used to be the shit.
