I am running System Shock 2 on Windows 2K.

The movies won't play when I start the game but I can see them in the folder.

Since I can get to the menu the game must be correctly installed. Yet when I select difficulty and then click start the game goes straight to desktop.

How do I fix this problem? I really need step by step instructions.

I, too, had the same problems trying to get System Shock 2 to run. I'm going to try getting it to work right now. Hopefully in the next few minutes I'll know if the patch works or not, because I think I've read from a few different people on different forums that the patch didn't fix the problem for everyone, so I'm not sure if the patch works all the time or not.

The patch that I downloaded just had a shock2.exe file in it. I replaced the shock2.exe file from the game folder with the patched shock2.exe file, and it asks me to insert a CD, so the patch I downloaded was just a replacement exe and it doesn't work on the freeware/abandonware version of System Shock 2.
