Hello!

I've been thinking about buying a PS4 this year, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it. I realize that there are some great titles available now, and some others still to be launched (like Uncharted 4 and Metal Gear Solid V), but the problem is that many online multiplayer games (like Destiny) or multiplayer focused games (like The Crew) have been released lately on the next-gen consoles, and I have never been a fan of such games. I've always prefered playing traditional single-player games or just playing with my friends, and I don't really like MMOs or similar games.

I see that this is becoming a trend in this console generation, and I fear that if I buy a PS4 there wouldn't be many future releases that I would like to buy. What do you think?

I wouldn't worry about that too much. There's plenty of awesome coming out. I think we're getting to the point where only the biggest companies can really compete for the multiplayer title. The fact that Call of Duty games still ship with substantial single player campaigns speaks to the viability of single player. In addition, the PS4 has a pretty damned steady stream of single player games.

The following games are the entirety of my PS4 library, of which are either purely single player, or contain multiplayer as a purely-optional piece.

Samurai Warriors 4

Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate

Xtreme Legends: Dynasty Warriors 8 Complete Edition.

Alien: Isolation

Fifa 15

Sniper Elite III

Call of Duty: Ghosts

Putty Squad

Metro Redux

Rayman Origins

Trials Fusion

Pinball Arcade (physical release)

Knack

Injustice: Gods Among Us: Ultimate Edition

Killzone: Shadow Fall

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Also, I can name the following off the top of my head that will also have worthwhile single player experiences:

FarCry 4

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires

Dying Light

LittleBigPlanet 3

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Single player will be fine.

My favorite games on the PS4 that have single player are:

Infamous: Second Son

Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor

Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag

Killzone; Shadowfall

Need for Speed: Rivals (you can turn off the multiplayer)

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

Also, if you haven't played it yet, get The Last of Us Remastered.
