Rockstar Zombie- Open-world survival game.

Imagine Rockstar making a zombie survival game with all their perfect abilities to make a good open world games?. it would be perfect. i know there is RDR: undead nightmare. but its not mainly meant as that and neither its a full game. its just DLC. but imagine a huge open world game with an abandoned city and all the zombie infestation is around. camp in some empty buildings. collect food. make food mandatory to survive. chances of getting sick. and lot of survivalist additions.. there are some survivors but few around. Dead Island might look similar to that. but am not a big fan of the 1st person P.O.V in that type of game. and its not very well made. Rockstar can rock that. they would make a great game out of it. don't tell me TLOU. hate that game.

When talking about Rockstar theres absolutely no need to bring up Open World. The Two are practically Synonomous.

Also theres already a game like that on the 360 I just don't remember its name. It was an Arcade Title.

Ah Yes.... State Of Decay ! ! !

Besides the Dead Island series, there are actually a few games like what you're describing. State of Decay is the best example of what you're talking about. It's 3rd person, open world, has vehicles, melee weapons, firearms, and all that, but there's an additional emphasis on exploration and scavenging as well as base management. You have to do supply runs to find weapons, food, medicine, construction materials, etc to keep your survivors happy. You can play as multiple characters and each one can suffer permanent death. Invidual NPCs within your camp will have personality conflicts or panic and you'll have to deal with that. Fail to bring home enough supplies and people might leave. Also, the more people you bring home the more supplies you need to constantly scavenge so it raises the question of do you bring everyone back? If someone has no practical skills and is just going to be a drain on your resources, do you save them anyway or just leave them? The game focuses more on sandbox play than scripted, but there's still an underlying story to it as well that you can follow.

That's by far the best example of what you're looking for. Most games of this type are 1st person, which you don't prefer. If that's not a dealbraker, then there are also other games that are open world sandboxes like 7 Days to Die (early access game that's like Minecraft survival horror with better graphics), Dead State (early access zombie Fallout-style RPG), The Dead Linger (another early access but procedurally generated world that's highly interactive) anothers.

I don't know. It might be interesting. I just think the whole zombie thing (like COD games) is getting old now. If they did release a title, I don't think I'd pick it up. I think it's time for something new and exciting, different.

@Lulu_Lulu:

You're getting warmer. :D

Playing as a werewolf would be pretty bad ass.

Mechanically Speaking... Theres not much were wolves have to offer... And as far as vampires are concerned, Prototype was as close as I ever got with that. Alex gains vitality by consuming people.

@Byshop: wow state of decay sounds really good, will look into that one.

Just to add, just watched a video review and although it's not visually the best looking game and it's a little buggy it's still seems good enough for a purchase.

Well everyone has already given great examples. I do not even know why you brought TLOU because it is not even open world. Anyway, as far as Rockstar designing it, I disagree. There open world games really follow the same formula. The main thing that makes them different is the settings. Yeah, the setting change things up, but we would have characters that still jump and movie just like the the characters in RDR and GTA games.

Yeah, I'll just add that I'm not sure what specifically you dislike about Dead Island, but if graphics and overall polish are high on your priority list I'll point out that Dead Island is going to be the closest to a AAA in this genre. All the other games I mentioned are indie titles, early access, or both.

Oh, maybe it's worth mentioning but Dead Rising. It's not exactly "Open World" except for maybe the third one on Xbox One, but it's pretty non-linear and allows you to explore a large shopping mall in 1, and then a large casino resort in 2.

SkiFree. As the name implies, it costs $100.

Honestly, I'd like to see a zombie mode of Just Cause 2. Better open world game than anything Rockstar has made.

They just need to take the concept of State of Decay and make it larger and more polished.
