Recommend me some good, older PC games.

I just got a computer. Unfortunately the video driver is old and can't play games that were made any later than the year 2000. But then I thought that there were plenty of older games that would be fun. So recommend me some classic. No RPG's or sports games please.

starcraft, age of empires II, halflife, homeworld, simcity 3000, close combat: battle of the bulge, rollercoaster tycoon, and one of my alltime favorites... European Air War (combined with a joystick with rudder and throttle for the full experience)...

The original Half Life (was better than HL: 2 (gasp!)

Deus Ex

Doom and Doom 2

Quake

Jedi Knight, Dark Forces 2.

You can prolly find them all cheap on Ebay.

If you're into adventure games then try out the Monkey Island series or atleast Curse of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango. As for FPS games, try Counter Strike 1.6, Day of Defeat, Team fortress Classic and Half life.

I already have Half Life for the PS2. Is there a package out there that includes Half Life and its two expansion packs? If so, would it be worth buying if I already have Half life?

yes actually, its called half life anthology 1. buy it off steam for $15. i would say its only worth it because it includes opposing force, blue shift, and the original team fortress. also you can play any and all half life mods. i recommend poke646.

and for other old games, try starcraft. its still easy to find even though its almost 10 years old. its an rts btw.

Deus ex most definitely, half-life, starcraft, and the old command and conquers were a lot of fun (I played Red Alert 2 the most).

No One lives Forever: The Operative
That one came out in 2000 and it rocked.

Tomb Raider 2 and xxx both pre 2000

~edit~ you know what, scratch Tomb Raider 3, I just looked at the review and I did not remember that was the one that was wicked hard.

You don't specify the genres you're mostly interested so i'll say whatever comes to mind. I recommend Mafia, I think it was made around 2000 or thereabouts, The Longest Journey. Also Diablo II and Lord of Destruction, maybe even Baldur's Gate I&II. And as others said Starcraft is a truly great game. And find a Civilisation game which will run well, possibly Civ3

See if you can get Arx Fatalis to run. It's absolutely incredible. I had it for the Xbox and it's still one of the games I measure others against in terms of the experience they provide.

Er, if the driver is the problem, why not update it?

Anyway, tons of super games. Heroes of Might & Magic 3, Freespace 2, Planescape Torment are a good start.

Roller Coaster Tycoon (With all the expansions it'll last you a really long time), Sim City 2000 or 3000 (Both awesome games), Sim Tower (Very fun, challenging, and involves strategy but it might be hard to find a copy), Oh and you can download Grand Theft Auto 1&2 from Rockstars website for free :D!
