They give me pre-orders set aside for themselves when they run out. They give me freebies whenever they have extras. The manager gave me a free subscription + the EDGE card upgrade once way back. They let me test out the opened copies in the store consoles so I have an idea of what I'm buying.
All this talk about EB people being asses does not apply to the store near me. Well, maybe it does now, I haven't bought a game in some time and when I came back there are new people working there. They seemed okay just not as nice as the ones before.
I watched some guy lose it on the staff and damn near get escorted out by mall security last week.
Apparently the guy had brought in a bunch of games and paid 20 bucks and got the Transformers game the day before. He wanted a FPS and *allegedly* the clerk told the guy Transformers was a FPS as opposed to the 3rd person game it is. Really I don't know how he could believe that because you can just look at the box and see your char on screen..... Anyways, the customer was demanding his money back, and the clerk had offered him whatever the game was worth on a buy back in store credit, but the customer wasn't having any of that. He kept going "Seriously dude... You told me this was a FPS. And I either want my money back, or my games and my 20 back". The clerk kept saying over and over that wasn't store policy, and he could have store credit if thats what he wanted. The customer kept going "Seriously, Dude. Give me my money or games". That exchange went on back and forth for about 10 min, until the customer just got ultra irate and then said "If you don't give me my money or money and games, somethings going to happen. The clerk said "Oh so know you're threatening me?" and the customer replied "No threats, somethings just gonna happen.". So the clerk grabbed the phone to call security and the guy booked off.

Wow...that's intense.
The customer is kind of a moron. He can just look at the back of the case...there's bound to be a pic on what it looks like.

If it wasn't for PC he could have given the guy his money back. Games can be returned within 14 day of purchase (if used) and 7 days of purchase(if new) for a full refund. And the people that work at these stores should have general knowledge of the games they offer. If the guy didn't have the common sense to look at the case and tell it was a 3rd person shooter, the clerk definately should have known that it wasn't an FPS, so he is also to blame for not having general knowledge of games when working at a gaming store.
I myself have nothing but great experiences at my Gamestop. I know all the employee's by name and they know me by name. I'm in there one to two times a week checking out games and trying games out on their systems their. We all goof off and I will help them organize games sometimes when I just go in there to chill, if I have nothing else that's going on and help out customer's when they are doing inventory and customers come in so they can continue doing what they were doing.
In return for my friendship with them and my free help I get demo's for free, and used games that I show interest in tossed at me and special deals with my EDGE card (that I got for free), let's just say my EDGE card sometimes malfunctions and gives me more then that 10% discount on games. I also get my choice of posters and cardboard stand ups that they have in the store adn things like that. We have a common bond, we all love games there and we share our interests and have become friends due to our passion for gaming.
There was this one time when i went into a gamestop after school, and this guy keep eye'ing me like i was gonna jack some stuff,he keep asking me "can i help you?" liketen thousand times,i was like damn leave me alone im just lookin geesh!!!...... then again last week i went into eb store to buy a psp game andthe manager asked if i wanted the subscription and the edgecard,i kept saying no until he said hed give it to me for free...so in the end he gave me a free subscription and a edge card..
The other day I was at a Gamespot and asked for a used copy of Super Smash Bros Melee.
He couldn't find theirs, and said it was $35.
I said what?! I can get it new at Walmart for $30! And It's so old!
He said thats what I should do. I asked him why it was so expensive, and he explained to me that, for some strange reason, all 1st party nintendo games are expensive, and started pulling out used games, like Mario Party 5, and ridiculosly old games that came out when the gamecube was first released; all $30-40 bucks.-USED.
But the guy was nice at least. Oh well....
