For those of you that have heard of the Cheetamen games on the NES, you might know that Cheetamen II was never released, and never finished.

Somehow, a Brand New version of this game, still sealed, made it's way onto eBay. The Price is over $600 and still going.

Here it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/Cheetahmen-II-2-Nintendo-NES-Fact-Sealed-NEW-SUPER-RARE-/170680741978?_trksid=p4340.m1374&_trkparms=algo%3DPI.WATCH%26its%3DC%26itu%3DUCC%26otn%3D15%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D2063698263164682879

( Glitchspot wouldn't let me link it. )

On Amazon the game is running for about $2500. That's insane.

I would hope if you paid 600+ for that thing, playing it wouldnt be a priority.

What kind of logic is that? Why would you pay that much for something and then not use it?

If you're a gamer that's trying to collect all the rarest NES gems, no matter how bad they are, I could see someone buying it and then not playing it. Likely just to say "I own the rarest Nintendo game ever made".

Crazy, I would never pay that much for a game, especially that one, and it's not even the rarest NES game, 1990 World Nintendo Championship: Gold Edition is, that goes for $15,000 - $20,000

You guys are crazy. You don't pay that much for something just to not use it. That's like those insane comic collectors that have their comics slabbed at CGC. Why would buy something that rare, have in your possession, and then not experience it?

Why would anyone want to play Cheetahmen 2 anyways? The game is pretty bad, actually it's worse than the first one based on what I've seen. At the very least, you can spend a lot of money and keep it sealed, and just add it to your collection of games.

Certainly not the rarest NES game either. Who else remembers the sealed copy of Stadium Events that sold on eBay last year for $41,300? (http://www.joystiq.com/2010/02/27/stadium-events-sells-for-41-300-becomes-most-expensive-nes-gam)

Just because it sold for more doesn't make it more rare, just more expensive. Cheetamen, though not rarer than World Championship Gold, is up there in the top 3 rarest.

No game is worth $600+ dollars in my opinion. The most I ever paid for one game was $105 for my copy of Radiant Silvergun and I thought that was even a bit much. And at least Radiant Silvergun is a fun game; from what I have heard, this game is total rubbish.

Stadium Events is certainly one of the rarest (at least the US version) considering only around 2000 carts were made, but only 200 copies made it into gamers' hands before Nintendo recalled it and rebranded it as World Class Track Meet.

Edit: It makes sense now, Glitchspot lied to me.

I have seen it for about $800 from this site I buy from, unopened with the box and all. However, I do know of much rarer NES games that can go for over $10,000. That's insane and I would never pay that much for a game. I wouldn't even pay $800 bucks for a game so rare, it doesnt' help it's a terrible game either.

Yeah really, there's so much better gaming-related stuff you could spend $800 and even $1000 on in the retro section: tons of awesome NES and SNES games, GOOD rare games and maybe even a few obscure but really awesome consoles.

As rare as that game sealed would be, there is another auction for the exact same thing from another seller also on ebay. You'd even get to save $300 by getting that other one instead.

now its up to $940! What a joke. You'd have to be an idiot to buy it on Amazon though. The only seller is asking $2499, he obviously is in NO hurry to sell the game.

Don't understand why people would buy a game with such a price. Especially when the quality of the game itself is well you know.. one of the worst game ever made.

Well, its an extremely rare game, that's enough for some people to pay stupidly large amounts of money for it, whether its good or not.

Being a collector myself I do understand this factor very well but I, myself, have a very fine line between "worth the money" and "that's too much for one game" and then there's the "this much for a piece of crap? I can eat a burrito and have more fun for cheaper." but because of its rarity, it almost makes it worth it.. But that's just too much to spend on a game like that.

He doesn't think he will , he just wants you to make an offer .

The guy who sold Stadium Events for over 40.000 bought it for arount 14.000 , these are collectors buying as an investment , not to play these games .

XeroEX
Well, in the review the nerd goes into detail (humorously) that the game was never released and only a few hundred copies were produced. That and the fact that this copy is sealed makes it worth a lot of money. At least in the eyes of an ebay bidder.

...umm that's exactly the point. Why would someone pay that much for a collector's item to use it (a 20+ year old game that was not great)? If someone really wants to just play it, then there are ways besides this
