@Tokeism: Agreed. I don't understand what drives these kinds of people. I mean, money obviously, but a person's life isn't worth any amount of dollars to me.
You should watch more H2 channel, Discovery, ect. I see this shit all the time on there. Not so much about video games, but just people being so damned down-trodden, they'll sell their own children for anything. Drugs, money, jewelry, ect. You ain't seen nothing yet.
Or sometimes they won't just sell them---they put them into prostitution. So they can keep doing it.
@Lulu_Lulu: Why would I sell one of my kids for a video game? I think that a human life is worth more than that.
@Lulu_Lulu: That's pretty deep, but it doesn't really answer the question. An addiction like video games isn't typically as powerful as drug abuse, unless you were born and bred into the addiction to games. Even still, people have an inherent connection with their family, and use this to conquer their addictions all the time. I think this is just a scumbag parent issue, and it's way too easy for them to give their kids away for money.

Also, I'm reserving judgement until some actual details of this case get reported. This -could- be true but the lack of information makes it smell of bullshit. Just because HuffPost reported it, that doesn't necessarily make it true. They've been duped before by intentional hoaxes, misinterpretations and even satirical websites from other countries.

Believe me, when it comes to the world of MMO's, all they need to do is catch you on "one of those days". Video Game addictions like these are usually symptoms of a much deeper psychological or scociological problem which can be more common than you think.
I'm prone to video game addiction because I have inferiority issues. :( luckily my addiction only spans one genre.... RPGs. :)
