@mauen: When you say "very simple graphics" do you mean CGA? Something like this?

#853 Posted by mauen (7 posts) -

@Black_Knight_00: Could be, but I can't really say for sure. I vaguely recall it had a very “pixely” image. It was a long time ago :P

Hi guys.

Im looking for a old war game, where you control a bomberplane.

The game starts from a hangarship, your mission is to shoot down other plans, sink hangarships and so on.

The gameplay is like world of warplanes and war thunder, just MUCH older!

I believe it's 2D and the game is seen from the side.

Any suggestions? google couldn't help me :/

Was it a flash-game ? Was it this one ? http://www.miniclip.com/games/hostile-skies/ru/#t-ss-S

Nope, not a flash game. :/

The gameplay i totally like this flash game:

http://games.rastaduck.org/WingsOfFury/WingsOfFury.html

but it's not this game...

#857 Posted by pustuleo (8 posts) -

@Black_Knight_00:

It was a 2d game. i dont think there was much side scrolling... mot of the lvs would fit on a single screen i think.

I'm looking for a game title I have been playing as a child. The problem is this seemed to be a rather rare game (although I'm not sure about it) and maybe it was not even released outside of Japan.

The game was jump and run style. You had to clear many different levels with monsters. As far as I know, you had different characters to choose from. You could play this in multiplayer. The game had different power ups for your shots etc. So you had normal "pistol shots" but also circle-shaped projectilesn which were bigger and/or projectiles with different trajectories. The game was in 2D and the art-style reminded me of Final Fantasy 6 but a bit more colorful. The game was very hard to beat and as far as I remember you always had to start from the very beginning or at least your amount of lifes were very limited. The game included different boss fights with many mechanics. I remember one boss fight where you had to fight on a moving elevator (this was one of the first boss fights, I could never progress much more (see mentioned game difficulty)).

I'd be very grateful if someone could help me on this.

@Black_Knight_00: No, it was way more colorful. Thanks for your suggestion, though! :)

okay, I could find it thanks to the genre name (run and gun). I didn't know that. So thank you.

Game name is "Rapid reload"

Please if u know anything about this game, dont bother urself to post here ;)

Thanks in advance, what a cool thread!

Genre: Science Fiction, Strategy

Timeframe: early 1990s

Platform: PC

Description: You’re a general or commander or mayor or something. You’ve got various aspects of the game to manage: A Space Fleet, Planet’s Surface, Building new ships. I don’t remember if it was turn based or continuous, but it wasn’t a RTS, and it wasn’t 3rd or 1st person or space flight.

The biggest thing I remember about the game is this: There’s a screen where you’re looking down at the planet’s surface, like satellite view, and you can tell them mine different places, which you designated with circles, which got deeper as turns or time went on. It was organized by grids, I think coordinates, because when I started a new game, I could always go back to the same spot and find the same things. I think some locations yielded better than others. But then you could like find things, like if you mine in one spot, you locate an old buried starship. When you mine deep enough, you uncover it, you can add it to your space fleet. I remember doing this every game because that ship was worth so much resources to have equivalent strength in my fleet. To that effect, I think throughout the game you’re trying to build up your fleet with ships to have a strong force, and you use the resources to do that.

The only thing I remember building up my fleet for was to prevent myself from losing the game, which seemed to always happen at a certain spot. When I lost, it was a cutscene of a bunch of futuristic soldiers (don’t remember if alien or not) surrounding your fortress and busting in. Then it basically said you lose, game over. I think that an invading force beat you, and you get taken over as the commander or whatever. I could never get past that part.

Been googling for about an hour, and looking through scifi computer game lists, and I can’t seem to find anything, so I appreciate your help!

Random point if it helps anything: I’m pretty sure I remember my dad buying it from Radio Shack (back when they were a cool place to get PC games). I was between the ages of 6 to 9 years old. It wasn't a kids game tho, my dad played it too.

Kinda reminds me of Blip & Blop - Balls of Steel, a very violent freeware game from the early 2000s. Other blue ball characters might be Lolo from Adventures of Lolo or the guy from Super Putty

I won't lie to you man, when people ask "PC sci-fi strategy game" it's like finding a needle in a haystack. Still, I have it narrowed down to about 40 games (out of over 1000). See if any of these ring a bell:

Master of Orion

Imperium Galactica

Nectaris

Star Control (series)

Stelcon 2469

Stellar Conquest 3: Hostile Takeover

Strike Base

Total Control

Star Fleet II: Krellan Commander

Star General

Star Legions

Star Lords

Star Reach

unfortunately none of them ;(

about Blip & Blop - Balls of Steel- im pretty sure that the character was just one and that there were no smurfs ^^ There were other strange creatures to kill so for sure no tanks and as i said before it was rather a space environment too. By looking at it im now 100% sure it wasnt the game that i'm looking for.

and about Super Putty- he was unable to do such things as streching his body and about it im 100% sure too and he wielded various kinds of weapons such as: guns, pistol, laser pistols, shootguns

and i think his color was rather purple.. sorry but dont really remember the details of the main character's look. Also thx for trying but looks like it will take longer than i thought .. im glad that u guys are trying to help ;D

#870 Posted by Black_Knight_00 (18635 posts) -

@redzombie16: I found this. It's a recent freeware, but it kinda fits your description and the sketch you made (click the picture for a larger one). Maybe it's a remake of the game you played as a kid?

Also, when was that? Early 90s? Late 90s?

Dang I just looked through all of those can't find the one. I've also ruled out Alpha Centauri. So many of those games share elements, but quite it. Thanks for the list of guesses man, I really appreciate it.

Hi guys.

First...sorry for my bad eng haha

Im looking for one game last 10-12 days, and I cant find it...so im hoping that someone here will help

When did you play the game?
- Before 6-7 years

What operating system did the computer run?
- Windows XP

What were the graphics like?
- 3D ... kind of animated

What was the gameplay like?
- like Torchligh

You start the game in small village.
I think the village has 6 clans.
Each clan has its own house and 4-5 players.
You go outside the village to do quests and kill monsters ... they drop you money and new items (like in Diablo)

The goal of all this is to destroy the other clans (destroy "something" in their house). you can create alliances, trade and few other things with other clans.

Maybe you guys can help me remember the title of a game...!

There's a boy wearing green clothes and a green bonnet, he's wielding a sword and find cool accessories such a boomerang... He must save a princess and retrieve yellow triangles...

:P

#874 Posted by darkcyde6666 (2 posts) -

Hi....it's not an old game I can't remember the title to, but a new game.....probably shown as a feature during E3 or some such similar games conference...

It's a first person game set in the future, in some kind of abandoned base or space station. You are a kind of engineer perhaps, and you have to go around maintaining the structure, accessing network nodes to open doors and stuff like that, but there is also a horror element as there is something pursuing you, but not a fast paced pursuit....might have something to do with light. I think I remember a kind of heat view that you could see the monster/alien thing following you.

It's not the upcoming Alien title before someone jumps on that.

It's driving me nuts, so any help will be much appreciated!

#875 Edited by darkcyde6666 (2 posts) -

@darkcyde6666: it's ok, I stumbled across the game play footage on YouTube.....its called Routine and is on a moon base....not out till later this year hopefully!

Ive been trying to remember the title of this game for a while now, but i cant just seem to find it. I have a lot of small details that i remember from playing this as a kid.
Details
-I played it on the PlayStation 1 in north america
-I think it had an X in its name

-It was 3D (Lots of polygons)

-You played a driver as a tank that that could pick up different weapons and use them ( I remember: One that allows you to shoot large balls of energy, one that allowed you two shoot missiles, and one that was a very powerful weapon that allowed you to shoot beams of energy it may have been called the rail gun)

-As this tank, you could find places to create bases that allowed you to build buildings that could spawn other allies that varied in forms from aircraft to infantry to tanks, and you could create a large turret in the middle to use as defense.

-Im sure that you could tell these allies to do things for you ( I remember one mission, you have to escort some sort of medical carrier trough hostile territory)

-There where three (could be more) factions; Blue (your side), Green (Neutral), and red (enemies)

Plot stuff that i can remember:

-ONe mission, you are escorting a medical vehicle that is carrying injured people to a friendly base. You get ambushed by a some red

-One mission, you are betrayed by the green, when you start, you construct a base, but the green guys bomb it and destroy it. The rest of the mission is spent fighting for your life and dodging the green people as they are constantly bombing you.

-Cant really remmeber the end but i think it involved a boss fight with a tank that is similar to yourself, but red.

Thats all i remember, i will be forever greatfull to whoever can tell me the title of this game, best of luck

Ive been feeling nostalgic and there's one game that i cant remember. It will be really helpful if anybody have a clue what the title is.

Genre: Strategy, turn based

Platform: PC (Windows XP)

Timeframe: 2002-2005

Description:

The game is turn based in 3D view, SRPG like since i think it is similiar to Japanese game like Hoshigami and Rhapsody but the thing is it ran on PC

Although the game is turn based, but once you finished the round, you can go back and roam the city (castle like) to buy equip etc.

I think theres river around the city.

I also remember that i can turn the enemy beast into mine, like taming pets.

I have looked in many sites but maybe the game is not that famous. and perhaps the game might be ported from console, since i remember the game has key mapping options before you run it

Any helps appreciated!

Hi guys! I'm looking for a game, but I forget her title. The game was something like Chaos Legion, Devil May Cry, hack and slash type. The year is about 2001-2005. In the begining you choose your hero - male with sword or female with spear and start beat the enemies. Between the levels you can unlock other swords or spears for your hero, can buy combos... In the end, the final boss was something like giant spider or scorpion. Please, can anyone remember the title of this game?

Dynasty Warriors 2 through 4?

#892 Posted by Branimer (10 posts) -

No, it wasn't Dynasty Warriors. Just two heroes - man with sword (who looks almost like Sieg from Chaos Legion) and a woman with spear/halberd (she was thin and in blue outfit). In the game you fight some kind of freaks, when kill them you can collect their souls and this is your experience and your money also.

Ok, time for a few more details. Describe the camera (behind the character, top-down...). Did the game have RPG elements aside from soul collecting? Did you level up, talk to people? Was the setting fantasy, historical, sci-fi? Also, what system was it on? I took a guess and said PS2, but let's make sure.

#896 Posted by Branimer (10 posts) -

The camera was behind the character - just like in Chaos Legion, and you can collect also bonus items (bracelet which increase your defence, ring which increase power, iron glove which improve your attack strengh, potions etc.) You don't talk to people. Setting was fantasy, I played it on PC. Monsters - zombies, ghouls, demons, some kind of evil dogs, that stuff. Levels - town in the Dark Ages, hell (walking on something like giant tongue), stone gardens (cemeteries), some kind of underground dungeon library. Combos - I remember one combo: you can strike your enemy with the sword from down to up, then jump after the enemy and turn couple of times around yourself like a whirligig, striking him 4-5 times.

Anyway, thanks a lot for the commitment, Black Knight :-)

Are you absolutely sure it was on PC? Because I just combed every PC game with a female protagonist from 1998 to 2006 and nothing fit.

#898 Posted by Branimer (10 posts) -

Thank you lot for that! Well, I played in my own PC - maybe it's ripped off from console to PC? I don't know... And, I find one game, that is almost similar to this - Evergrace, but it's for PS2 and it's not the game what I looking for :-(

Does anyone remember the name of that Genesis game where you play as an elephant and you could rescue his friends and play as them?
