I realize I'm a cynic when it comes to anything Nintendo, but I wouldn't expect much. To be honest, I'm not expecting anything from them at E3 really.

WE ARE GO!!!

Little Mac in Smash!

Mario Golf, Kirby triple deluxe, Yoshi's New Island comes out March 14

FPS Steel Diver 2, some dog sports game where you pay separately for sport mini games but you can in game negotiate the real life price, weird. Pokemon puzzle game. All eshop games.

New Professor Layton trailer. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimare in 2015 for 3DS. I have no clue what this next game is, some weapon shop game, weird. An RPG weapon shop owner simulator. Just a whole lot of shit.

Third party eshop games like Shovel Knight, 1001 spikes, treasurenauts.

Now Wii U eshop, Child of Light is being shown, April 30.

New DKC TF trailer, we know its coming, enough.

Nintendo clearly despises the Wii U almost as much as third parties do.

Highlight: Little Mac's in Smash Bros. and has the coolest moveset to hit the series yet. I'm digging the super meter from the Super Nintendo game. This is going to be amazing!!!

#11 Edited by dvader654 (44749 posts) -

Just waiting for Solid to go crap all over X cause it has a visual downgrade.

Little mac, X, and bayonetta and mario kart all looked awesome.

The rest was meh

@dvader654: Nintendo's video feed isn't always the best quality. I wouldn't judge graphics until you see them running on your own console, they all tend to look better outside of a video stream.

Well I am just comparing it to the previous nintendo video feed video.

X still looks great as does Bayonetta 2. Kind of indifferent to Little Mac being in Smash Bros., still love the game though. Love me my Mario Kart so definitely want the next one. These NES Remixes look very cool.

#17 Posted by MirkoS77 (6240 posts) -

Metroid? Metroid? Bueller? Anyone?

#18 Posted by Randolph (10135 posts) -

HUGE SUCCEEDED.

X still looks good enough to address the most serious flaw of Xenoblade, that being the fact that it was absolutely ugly as hell. Certainly looks better than anything Final Fantasy has been doing in a long time. (aside from FF14: ARR anyway, which seems to actually be a great game)

What? No hype for that soccer "game"?! :) I actually do want to play that!

I don't think I've ever said this before, but Bayonetta may just have too much going on!! I know, crazy, but I had a hard time following what was going on. Maybe it was the crappy stream. But I had no sense of what was happening.

I'd be more excited for NES Remix 2 if the first one wasn't $15. I bought that game 15 minutes after it was announced, and I think it was priced too high. I like it, but $10 may be more appropriate. If they're gonna make a franchise out of these, I'd hope for a price break. I'd love to see a SNES and N64 Remix.

Looked like a great Direct to me

I should add that I was also genuinely interested in the Steel Diver game. Looks like a nice change from the usual deathmatch of CoD and BF.

#22 Posted by S0lidSnake (28997 posts) -

I know they didnt show a lot of new stuff but I like the fact that they SHOW stuff every few weeks. Sony is apparently holding their first event in 6 months and wouldn't even put out a PS4 trailer for MLB The Show. A game coming out in two months. Cunts.

I didn't notice the X downgrade. It always looked like that. Bayonetta on the other hands looks fucking amazing. Holy shit at those setpieces. She looks better with short hair as well... less like a cheap pornstar. Now looks more of a high end hooker.

@S0lidSnake: I think its best you never see the older X footage. :P

Loving Wii's lineup. For the first time I'll be getting a wii before playstation. If only they cancel 3DS and release Bravely on WiiU. I don't see the point in keeping a handheld when your console is a handheld and console. :(

You cant take the pad with you anywhere...

X: hard to say if there is a visual downgrade. too many variables like time of day and location to really see if there is a downgrade. it looks like the AI may have bugged out during the demo though. the enemy seemed to just stop. if thats all they have to show at the moment then, sadly, not a 2014 release. at best maybe late 2014 in japan. look great though. i cant say no to stomping around massive worlds knocking the crap out of big monsters in my own transforming mech. i....just....cant....

Monster hunter 4 is looking epic. i really wants that.

Look like mario kart 8 did get an upgrade in the visuals. very inconsistent series though imho. the last one i enjoyed was MKDS (best kart since the snes version). MK7 on the 3DS was dissapointing.

i have no interest in bayonetta. for fans i hope it looking good for them (given the hostility towards the game being on a nintendo platform i dont think its going to do well though. i hope i am wrong).

I tried the new steel diver game. didnt like it though. not enough of a sim to grab me, not enough action for a quick run. fair enough, its a sub and not a ninja space transforming tank warship...but still not fun imho. i would love to see a submarine game that tries to capture the tension of that environment but, sadly, this is not it. I think ubisoft had a good stab at it...must try one at some stage.

i dont have much interest in tropical freeze either.

looks like slim pickings for spring unfortunately. not too bad though as i have 1 hell of a backlog. currently playing bravely default. then rome 2, x rebirth (should be fixed by then hopefully), luigis mansion, tearaway, killzone mercenary....such a backlog :S.

I think she's assuming that the Wii U pad is like say a tablet or something in which it has the hardware in it to actually run and play the games.

Some issues I had with the direct:

-The lack of a more specific release date for Bayo 2 and Smash 4

-Nothing new for Wii U's retail

-Didn't really go into good detail about X; a single battle showing isn't really enough to get me truly excited for a game (to clarify, I am interested in the game, but not anymore so because of the direct).

-Would have also liked a more detailed explanation on Smash 4's gameplay. What are the mechanics and physics like? What new modes or features are there? How will they improve the online (because lord knows Brawl's online was terrible)? etc. Little Mac being announced was cool and all but Gameplay is still the most impotant factor.

-Nintendo trying out the F2P/microtransactions model with that baseball game. Never was a fan of that model at all. I wasn't really too interested in the baseball game in the first place, so I'm not really that upset or anything, I just hope this isn't something that spreads to Nintendo's notable IPs, or into a new IP that actually looks more interesting and promising than a baseball game.

Outside of these things, I enjoyed the direct. I'm more excited for Tropical Freeze, Yoshi's New Island, and Kirby Triple Deluxe. Mario Kart 8 is also looking great and the koopa kids being announced was cool I guess. I'm actually pretty interested in alot of the indie stuff announced, such as that blacksmithing RPG (which hopefully will not be the ultimate sleeping pill that Crimson Shroud was), as well as the Child of Light game on Wii U.

NES remix 2 is working with more interesting NES games it seems and perhaps will turn out better, and the Luigi bros game sounds kind of neato (although NES Remix is 15$ again. Not digging that.). GBA games being on the Wii U is pretty exciting. I already own Metroid: Fusion, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island, but I am intrigued to see what other GBA games get put onto the Virtual Console; some of the games hopefully being ones I have not played yet.

Overall the direct was not special or anything and was lacking in areas, but overall I found it to be pretty solid and enjoyable.
