Do you think it is a bad idea to buy one of these? I just put one on pre-order with Amazon, but i am having second thoughts. It does look cool as hell, but really, i can play many of SNK's legacy games on other platforms. Is anyone else interested in getting one of these new systems? Is it worth the investment?

I too have had a little gander at it and it seems rather good IF (and this is a big if) the games that run on it are the arcade versions not the console ones. Once someone confirms either way I will know what to do but until then not sure

This is the main reason i wont be buying it. all the major SNK titles that im interested in i can already play on my PSP/PS2. waste of money for me.

The Neo Geo X gold is a good deal. At least at the beginning You get a hybid portable Neo Geo handheld system. Which is preloaded with 20 Neo Geo games. This connects into a console dock which features proper Neo Geo arcade controller. Plus includes a voucher to download another Neo Geo game. So you have a Neo Geo Console and Handheld system with 21 games for $199.99

But they didn't state anything about the rest of the Neo Geo game back catalog. Or if SNK would create new games. NeoGeo X is great but unknown if SNK will be able to offer continued support.

For $200, it's a rip-off. You might as well save up just a little bit more and get a REAL Neo Geo AES. Or you'd already have enough for a Neo Geo CD. And 20 games, isn't a lot of games pre-loaded onto it. You can already get most of those games that are pre-loaded on it, on SNK Arcade Classics for PS2 & Wii for about $10.

It does look well-made, though. And they are promising all-new game releases. But I wouldn't hold my breath on that game promise. If the system doesn't end up selling well, then what companies are gonna release games on it?

It it was cheaper, then it would probably be worth it. But $200 is ridiculous for this thing.

It's upsetting that the device is just a rom player. $200 for a decent player that likely comes out of the same factories in china as the dingoo.

I want one but the price seems fairly steep for what we know of the system now. The problem really is just games, lack of games announced for the system is a put off. Even just announcing more old Neo Geo games with reasonable pricing would be pleasing to see.
