So in what games has the Artifical Intelligence of your enemies or allies made you go: "Wow, i didnt expect that"I know, I actually just bought that game. It was mind numbingly hard even on the default difficulty.
I am fairly impressed with a medal of honor game i recently played ( It was pacific assault I rhink)
On easy mode I just randomly dashed to the enemy and headshotted them, and then turned around to see that my teammates had not followed me blindly and got themselves killed, rather they had followed me, while still fighting like in a real war. And even the enemies know when you are coming and dash at you to stab you with their knives, rather then reload and wait to get headshotted

i liked the AI in hour of victory...lol jk:P...but seriously i gotta go with the other 2 guys...FEAR really impressed me...although dead or alive 4 and bioshock i think had pretty good AI to
A.I. sucks mostly. But the first time I was slightly impressed was in MGS.SKaREOyou're joking right? I could code their patterns with my feet.
Like many said, FEAR does have some very human like responses from ennemies. Some of the best AI I've seen come from RTS games such as CoH and WC3. AI where environnements are dynamic and complex are also some of the most impressive to my eyes (ex: Crysis)
Responding to this topic is quite hard, since some of the best AIs ever do not try to simulate a human opponent, but monsters/aliens/etc.
Way back when in 1998, the AI in Half-Life really impressed me. That has to be put in context with the time at which the game was released. As for more recent games, I'll have to agree with people on the greatness of the AI in F.E.A.R. Crysis seems to have some pretty nice AI, too. razamataz45Yeah I agree about HL back when it was released on the ps2 waaaayyy back when I was shocked lol like it was crazy to me lol. Much more impressive that the HL2 AI but the physics engine made up for it lol

:|.....:)....
well being honest, MGS A.I (not counting 4 cause I don't know how that is like) isn't that complicated.
They just have certain number of fixed actions and triggers, while enemy A.I always moves in pre-programmed route. It's not very dynamic. That kind of A.I is easier to program than less rigid A.I like other FPS games out there.
but then again, not many PS2 games had better A.I than that.
