 Thanks for reply

ive played most of these.

Like I said, no final fantasy is good to me. Tactics i didnt enjoy at all compared to SF and FE

Bioshock and borderlands should not be on the list. And I dont like borderlands

I did wanna try some Dragon Quest remakes, but, the grinding...some games i dont mind but man, DQ makes you grind like crazy usually.

How much grind is there in those?

Bioshock (more of a shooter than Fallout, but still RPG-esque feel and gameplay elements)

Final Fantasy Tactics (PlayStation) - I know you said you hate Final Fantasys, but try this! Especially since you were into Shining Force.

Dragon Quest V (SNES - Fan Translation) - Great story, music, decent battles

DQVI (DS)

DQVII (PlayStation) - Very lengthy RPG

Oblivion (PC) if you haven't tried it - Though in my opinion the weakest of the last 3 Elder Scrolls games.

Borderlands 1 (haven't played 2) - Shooter/RPG hybrid

Riviera (GBA) - Unique JRPG, though weaker than some other titles on this list IMO.

Hope that you enjoy!

I heard Dragon quest IX has a really bland battle system and world? But i dunno id try Disgaea but..if the system is more akin to FF tactics than say, fire emblem, I'm out. can u play breath of fire IV without playing the others?

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls maybe if you want some challenging gameplay.

Looking at your list, you would probably really enjoy some old school pc rpgs like Baldur's Gate 2 and Planescape if that's an option for you.

The Witcher games and Jade Empire might be others you would like as well.

As for JRPGs:

Vagrant Story(available on PSN for 6$ to download for the PS3 and PSP)

Valkyria Chronicles(PS3)

Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii if you can find it for a good price.

The Last Story(Wii)

Good suggestions: I might throw in:

Two Worlds - 1 is graphically very dated and while 2 is better it won't blow you away. Both feel pretty traditional to me.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - RPG bubblegum, but decent.

Yeah, you can play BIV without playing the others, each game is it's own thing.

You could say Dragon Quest IX is kinda bland, but it requires excellent skill & health managing, it's not like you can just mash the button to attack.(Maybe on early enemies).

Well... as I heard someone describe it, Disgaea is Final Fantasy Tactics on Crack. The gameplay is way more complicated and has a lot of variables to consider in a stage. Also funny as hell.

If you want a game more similar to Fire Emblem, you should try Advance Wars(GBA).
