Looking for general advice on my college project

Hi, my name is Scott and I’m doing a project based around games design for my final year at college. This is my idea for a game, and I would just like to get some feedback of what you’d want to see included in the game and what you think of it generally.

Concept: “Waldridge Quest” is an 8 bit side scrolling adventure platform game for the virtual Nintendo eShop, and delves deep into the moorland countryside of County Durham. Your role is to collect the 8 diamond gems of Waldridge whilst avoiding various beasts, and also collecting power ups along the way to help aid you in your quest.

I appreciate all kinds of feedback.
