Gamecube games....I need recommendations!

I'm a huge Pokemon and Harvest Moon fan, but I dislike A Wonderful Life and Colleseum. Right now I have Pokemon XD and HM: Magical Melody. I love these games, but is there anything similar to them that's not real time (like Animal Crossing)? I have a job and night school so it has to be something I can pick up and play even after months of no gaming.

That was long-winded.

HyenaGamer
Have you played Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door? It is my favorite Paper Mario game. Turn based combat, great story, pretty fun to replay multiple times as well.

I'll definately take a look at it, thanks!

I heard a rumour recently that Sony will do to the PS2, what was done to the PS1. Somebody told me they would be bringing out a really compact version so far i can only find the original or skinny ones, is it true they will be bringing them out? if so has anybody got an idea when they will be released?

I am fairly doubtful. The PS2 was supposed to die 2 years ago.

[QUOTE="HyruleanLink"]I can't decide what racing game to get for my PS2. Should I get GRan Turismo, Burnout Revegne, or Burnout 3 Takedown? Thanks for the advice.HyruleanLink
So does anybody have any suggestions. I have narrowed the field between Gran Turismo 4 and Burnout 3 Takedown.

burnout 3 is far better IMO

I want to have a multiplayer racing gamefor PS2. I used to play High Stakes on my PS1 before in Cop chase mode. Me n my friends loved it. :)

Now I want something equal exciting. Can someone plz suggest me such game. It does not need to be cop chase game necessarily but should be a good racing game, plz just mention if it has such mode in it or not.

Also plz suggest me some other good multiplayer games in any genre. Thanks :)

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 is a good racing game with a cop chase mode in it. Need for Speed: Underground is my favorite racing game on the platform but supposedly the Burnout games are really good too.

You don't like Nintendo franchises? As for gamecube exclusive games i would recommend The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros Melee. Third party games would be Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, Resident Evil (Remake) and Soul Calibur II (feat. Link)

Has anyone but me played Indigo Prophecy? It was a physiological thriller so sorts. The game swaps between three distinction narritives, each relavint to the plot in its own right, but the plot as a whole only makes sence when each narritive has been completed.

The game is (as far I'm concerned) the paradigm of the "playable-movie" genre.

Yeah, I played Indigo Prophecy. the game was pretty good overall, despite what I thought were some story hang-ups at the end. i would defintatly reccommend it, especially if you can get it for less then 10 dollars.

I can personally recommend the Xenosaga series, which is really good, especially if you can get through the second one. Shadow is also a great game. Mana Khemia is a bit of a toss up. If you don't mind 2d graphics but enjoy fun rpgs, then try it out. The skill raising system was pretty neat, as you needed to use your alchemy skills to unlock new abilities.

I also have the same question about black. I had thought I had heard it was good, but I don't know.

I just got marvel vs capcom2 and my ps2 game list now consists of:

Xenosaga

Devil May Cry

Onimusha Dawn of Dreams

Final Fantasy X

God of War

God of War 2

Dragon Quest VIII

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

Are there any other recommendations to add to my collection

You will be missing out if youdon't play th Ratchet and Clank series; all of the games in the series are awesome. Sly Cooper is pretty good; you should get it if you find it cheap, the first Jak game is pretty good, but tht's the only one I ever played, so the other ones could certainly be better. Never really played any of the other games, though.

I recommend to anyone (If you think you'd like them); Tekken Tag Tournament, Katamari Damacy (Might be too childish for you), Gran Turismo series, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Odin Sphere, most Tony Hawk games, most Need for Speed games, Shadow of the Colossus (Had mixed reactions, some say it's one of the best PS2 games made, some say it's an abomination to gaming), Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, most Final Fantasy games (There are more then just Final Fantasy X), and many more... P.S: Sorry I took so long to reply, my Internet connection was cut off.

San Andreas is good for free roam and just the free roam will last you until your 360 gets the RROD. Halo 2 is a great FPS but is kind of short. I reccomend San Andreas.

@ X Matryr X: I believe Socom 3 has the best overall experience boasting 32 player online play and vehicles is enough to make it worth a purchase. Now you may not be able to find 32 players to play online. But you said single player, so yeah Socom 3 is the best.
#-28 Posted by scar-hawk (5404 posts) -
^ And also just a little reminder, the spot where Socom really shines in is online play. But if you don't care for online, you should get this game if you're adamant of your decision to get a socom game.
#-27 Posted by daboogeywoogey (20 posts) -
I am pretty stacked with RPGs (Suikoden, Xenosaga, Final Fantasy, Klonoa 2, any many more) and Action/adventures(Ico, Shadow of colosus, God of War, Castlevania,... any much more) but i am a little short on another of my favorite genres which is fighting. Can you give me some recommendations of fighting games for the ps2 besides tekken tag tournament because i already own it as well as tekken 4 and tekken 5.

So you already have Socom 3? :P

And as for the previous poster requesting a good fighter, the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for the PS2, Mortal Kombat Armaddegon, and even the Mortal Kombat collection seem to be some good choices.

Yes I totally agree with hulk ultimate destruction being on the xobx list. Even though it got 8's mainly I consider it one of the best games for the console. Amazing graphics, 1080i support(OMG), Bass-heavy sound effects, and stellar gameplay.

I just bought a PS2, and I bought Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank. I enjoy them both, and on Monday I'm buying a few more. I was gonna get Bully and San Andreas, but I can't find San Andreas anywhere, (curse you Jack Thompson!) so I was looking for a few others. I was looking for a non-random battle RPG game, as well as a sandbox style game, like Grand Theft Auto, except I played every one but San Andreas. So, something like GTA. Answer and you get a cookie. Answer quick, and you get two cookies!

Ah, Thank you. And with Kingdom Hearts, which one is better, KH1 or KH2? And which one is more lengthy/fun. And also for the one that is most lengthy, how long on average will it take me to beat and will there be anything that would make me replay it. Perhaps a different playthrough? And same question for Persona 3.

And if there are better/longer RPGs or let alone games, feel free to tell me.

Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks in advance.

Both are basically the same, except the control system is a little trickier for the first one, the second one is darker and more serious seeming, and the first one's camera is more zoomed in toward Sora then the second one. I prefer the second one though just because of the more realistic tone it has. I think that the Disney cameo's are also better in number 2. And also, Gamespot gave KH2 an 8.7, but they only gave the first one a 8.2. Look it up.
