I don't have a very large PS2 collection, I kind of dismissed the system for many reasons (like no Bomberman games, lack of serious games, to many hybrids, too many clones.) or so I assumed. I recently played Suikoden Iv and Dragon Quarter, and those were some pretty good games, so what are some other good Jrpgs, which is an annoying term to me btw, would I enjoy so then i can have an excuse to just grab games of any genre so i can build up my collection? You can write down sequels if you don't need knowledge of previous games at all or that much. Like the two games at the beginning of the thread. Thanks will check back later.

Well see, there was Bomberman Hardball on the PS2. But yeah JRPGs, I'd highly recommend Dragon Quest VIII. It's one of the best JRPGs I've ever played. Oh and of course Persona 3 and 4. Incredible games.

Suikoden 4 was the worst of the series....

Shadow Hearts (only to have some insight for...)
Shadow Hearts 2 Covenant
Shadow Hearts 3 (if you need another to play, but 2 is really where the series ends)
Ar Tonelico (Misha's branch has a possible game stopping glitch. Need to activate all her dialog at a key pont to bypass it. keep multiple saves.)
Ar Tonelico 2 (best of the series. Although has a game stopping glitch, but its bypassible. Need to kill a boss within 3 turns.)
Xenosaga Ep 1-3

(these 3 have camos that make them related to one another.)
Valkyrie Profile 2
Radiata Stories
Star Ocean 3

Sakura Wars: So long my love
Steambot Chronicles
Metal Saga (might be too sandboxy, though, not many end up liking it.)

Suikoden Tactics
Front Mission 4
Odin Sphere (although you're better off getting the PSN version for the PS3. PS2 version has tons of slowdown)
Okami
La Pulcelle Tactics
Eternal Poison (aka: Poison Pink)

Horrible Graphics, Low budge.... but still worth playing.
Disaster Report
Raw Danger

Crossovers:
Haunting Ground (good luck finding that one.....)
ICO (If in the US PS3 HD version is all around better though, because it's the European version.)
Shadow of the Colossus (PS3 HD version comes with ICO and is clearer, plus trophies)
Fatal Frame I, II, and III
Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 (stay away from MGS3's Snake Eater, MGS3 Subsistence is the one you want.)
Zone of the Enders 1 & 2
Ace Combat 5
Way of the Samurai
Yakuza 1 & 2

Xenogears for the PS1....

I don't think any of the games in your cross-over section can be considered JRPG's. Neither Disaster Report and Raw Danger. That said, all of those are awesome games nonetheless.

The PS2 is the best console for JRPGs. Most of the best JRPGs of all time are PS2 exclusives. Let me make a list for you.

  • Wild Arms 3
  • Wild Arms 4
  • Wild Arms 5
  • Tales of Legendia
  • Tales of the Abyss
  • Persona 3
  • Persona 4
  • Dragon Quest VIII
  • Final Fantasy X
  • Final Fantasy XII
  • Dark Cloud
  • Dark Cloud 2
  • Grandia 2
  • Grandia 3
  • Kingdom Hearts
  • Kingdom Hearts 2
  • Okage Shadow King (Sleeper hit, I HIGHLY recommend this game.)
  • Digital Devil Saga
  • Shadow Hearts
  • Rogue Galaxy
  • .hack

Way too many good JRPGs on the PS2. I can't handle it! I haven't even finished half of the games on this list. I'm currently experiencing an overload of awesome.

If you think Suikoden IV was good then try Suikoden V, it's much better.
