I think it's better than Soul Blazer and about as good as Illusion of Time. You should definitely check out Illusion of Time if you like Terranigma.

By a lot, I would say if you haven't played it, you need to go out of your way to play this game

Terranigma is easily the best of the gaia series, but Soulblazer and Illusion of Gaia are still enjoyable games. In my opinion I think soulblazer is better than Illusion of Gaia. I remember trying Gaia a long time ago and really couldn't get into it. The only reason I went back to play it again was when I realized it was part of a trilogy.

Terranigma is the biggest game in the series, but the story kind of goes nowhere. The graphics are gorgeous and you have a good amount of combat options as far as action RPGs go.

Frankly, I prefer Illusion of Gaia for its succinct story and soulful soundtrack (it's my overall favorite video game in general). It's an extremely linear game, especially by comparison to Terranigma.

But both games are much better than Soul Blazer, which is a little bit archaic by today's standards.
