I'm sure that most of you that have made the leap to next gen consoles couldn't wait this long to play gta5 and have already bought the game for last gen consoles. So is there any point in buying it again? will there be any differences except visuals?

Or have you waited without purchasing it for older consoles?

If they get it to run at a stable 30fps, it'll play much nicer.

I can also imagine a beefed up online infrastructure of the new consoles helping GTA Online be more of a thing.

I suspect there will also be some new content to provide more incentive. Maybe nothing huge, like on the level of a GTA DLC pack, but some new vehicles, weapons, sidequests, whatnot maybe.

Beyond that, yea, it'll mostly be a visual improvement. But likely a very big one. And next-gen owners are eager to have pretty things to play, so it'll sell well.

Of course, people who haven't played the game yet will obviously be in for a treat.

Yeah the performance will be better and the visuals are nice plus too.

There probably would be uproar if it was never ported to gen 8 consoles and pc

Im probably gonna get it on the x1 as I never owned it on the x360 but did play a bit of it recently. So im looking forward to it and I hope they include dlc with it to give me more reason to get it over previous gen

No Complete Edition ?

Sorry... Extra pixels is not worth buying the same game again !

If you were clever you waited for this release :D

But of course GTA V is worth getting for next gen, Rockstar had a year to polish it and listen to feedback.

I'll probably get it, but I don't know--Watchdogs sort of doesn't get any time anymore. Now that could be Mario Kart 8, but is GTA really that much better than watchdogs? What really impressed me about Watchdogs was the open-ended nature of the missions. ...actually not sure why I stopped it.

lol is watch dogs better than GTA? of course GTA is better thats not even a contest.

Watch Dogs is a horrible unfinished game and if you play it casually you will never stop finding bugs and glitches.

@Jacanuk

Considering how much time they had before GTA IV.... I'm not entirely optimistic..... Their PC ports are also bad so that doesn't inspire much confidence either.....

Also the 8th Gen consoles are pretty dissapointing too so even if Rockstar was dedicated to delivering the best the can do its still going to be rather underwhelming.

But we'l see when they come out.

Eh there's bugs in all open world games. I'm more asking why, I guess. I am not taking sides, either. My interest in GTA died after GTA Vice City. I played these games on the PC and I always thought the console versions were terrible because of the controls. GTA4 rectified this somewhat but had the exact same repetitive mission structure. That positive aspect of Watch Dogs I said up there has never been present in a gta game.

Their GTA ports are not bad, did some have problems at the start, well of course since its pc and there are literally almost thousand upon thousand different pc setups.

Also GTA V is still a GTA game and you won't find a better open world game out there.

Ya, the hacking aspect in Watch Dogs had promise.

But yes GTA V is worth getting if you like open world games, and if you enjoyed Watch Dogs you will enjoy GTA V, they are very similar GTA is just bigger and have taken more care in a lot of small details.

No I won't buy . i played on 360 and it was a great game but not worth buying again .

#14 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (8611 posts) -

@Jacanuk

True as that maybe... It doesn't mean GTA is actually good.... :p

its like that one time my entire class failed the maths exam and some guy felt the need to brag about only failing by one mark.....

#15 Posted by jasean79 (2298 posts) -

The only way I'd buy GTA V for next gen consoles is if they bundled some other installments with it, like San Andreas, Vice City, GTA 3. I wouldn't buy it again purely for the fact that it might run a little smoother on the PS4.

Ok, so here's what the differences are according to one article:

- New wildlife

- Denser traffic

- New jobs

- New weapons

- New properties

- New vehicles

- New player customization

- Cockpit view

And of course, the visual changes, which will be higher resolution, improved lighting, higher texture resolution, higher quality asset/texture replacements, better reflections, more foliage(and higher quality) and increased draw distance.

I know some people will say visuals aren't worth double dipping for, but GTA games are so dependent on the atmosphere and environment to provide the player an enjoyable world to romp around in, and these improvements will likely have a pretty significant impact on this aspect. I expect it to feel a lot more alive and realistic.

The article also has some comparisons of last gen vs current gen - > http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/22469/article/gta-5-ps3-vs-ps4-gif-comparison-of-multiple-location-shows-stunning-difference/

Realism is overated... Saints Row IV for the Win ! ;)

In a few years, when I buy a PS4, I will pick up GTA V Greatest Hits version for $30.

You do this a lot.

Sure, it doesn't mean GTA is good, but GTA is a great game one of the few good games that are not just trying to be a Call of Dogs or Battlebunnies clone.

#21 Edited by Lulu_Lulu (8611 posts) -

@maynardburger

Not nearly enough....

@Jacanuk

Obviously up against CoD and "Battlebunnies" then GTA will seem like the Cats Pijamas.

#22 Posted by turtlethetaffer (16439 posts) -

Maybe it will be if they make the side missions interesting and cut out the dull parts.

#23 Posted by Archangel3371 (15165 posts) -

Yes! My patience has paid off. I was tempted numerous times to pick this up on my 360 but now I will get this for my Xbox One instead. I can't to finally play this game now. Thankyou R*.

#24 Posted by speedfreak48t5p (6228 posts) -

Already got on 360, but when I get a PS4, I'll definitely pick it up again. I'm really liking what I've seen so far. :)

I agree with you lulu realistic games are not always the best games and are not always fun to play, now I do like gta5 it's just I like it in small doses. I just wish R* put more fun side missions in. Take watchdogs for instance you can play that game for hours and not touch a main mission, you can't really say that about gta5. To me gameplay and variety matters more than a glossy finish.

#26 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (8611 posts) -

@Ariabed

Really ?

All that side stuff begins to feel repetitive long before you even get to try them all..... Because they're so shallow.

Less Variety and More Depth Please ! ;)

and co-op ! Local co-op !

#27 Posted by starwolf474 (420 posts) -

I was patient and waited for the next gen version even when it was on sale for only $34. I'm glad to see that my patience paid off and I can now play it for the first time on next gen consoles.

I was already sold but cockpit view? Its about damn time! Although that probably would've came in a mod sooner or later.

#29 Posted by mooooo99 (1232 posts) -

i'll probably be picking this up at some point. gtav was pretty fun on the ps3, definitely worth playing through again.. dont know how they can make this look any better than it looks currently.

#30 Posted by Ariabed (1099 posts) -

@starwolf474: you did well to wait, I know guys that wanted to wait but they couldn't hack it. Anyone who waited will be well rewarded.

#31 Posted by blangenakker (2070 posts) -

So why did they keep the fact they were developing this secret?

#32 Edited by vicky_john1 (50 posts) -

Thats up to you. I expect some new things will be added in upcoming consoles

#33 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (8611 posts) -

@blangenakker

It wasn't a secret... They just forgot to tell anyone. :p

#34 Posted by vpacalypse (545 posts) -

I would buy this over watch dogs (& I already have last gen version).

But I would only buy it if they offered some form of discount to those who already bought it last gen.

#35 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (8611 posts) -

@vpacalypse

Never gona happen... You may have standards but you're the only one..... Many people are gona rebuy this game..... Some one is actually planning on Buying the PS4 just to rebuy GTA. :p Rockstar made a buttload off GTA... They know they got gamers by the short curlies.

To me buying the GTA5 remake makes sense in a few ways.

1. You never bought it last gen. Get it now.

2. You're a big GTA or Rockstar fan... So the upgrade makes sense.

3. If they throw in a decent amount of cool content, just enough to say... this is different from last gen.

4. If they throw in some form of discount to those who've already got it on current gen.

5. Your looking for the technical jump where everything will be smoother.

I fall into number 4 I guess. Trailer was great, it had a very chill vibe about it. But there's so many games to buy this year/ next that I can afford to let this one slide until a later date.

But sure I can see how people would just buy it (or the ps4) just on impulse at full price. Lol, I would still call it a good buy nonetheless.

#38 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (8611 posts) -

@vpacalypse

Sure... If people are into that sort of thing.... Atleast when Injustice went 8th Gen it was in the form of the Ultimate Edition with all the DLC, which is more than I can say for Tomb Raider's Definative Edition ! Which wasn't even that Definative..... Everybody knows that honour goes to the PC version.... :p

#39 Posted by osan0 (12551 posts) -

i waited so i will be getting the PC version when it arrives.

#40 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (8611 posts) -

@osan0

Liar.... You didn't wait.... You completey forgot about it and just happened to remember around the time they anounced a PC version.... :p

#41 Posted by osan0 (12551 posts) -

@Lulu_Lulu: noooooo no....im very disciplined.....i used all my strength to resist.

I didn't forget about....what was it?

#42 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (8611 posts) -

@osan0

So many other great games came to PC..... So Many.

People think PC Gamers where sitting on their thumbs waiting for this thing to be anounced.... Like they had nothing better to do. :p

#43 Posted by vashkey (33666 posts) -

I don't really want to but I might get it because all my friends seem to want it and I do want to play with them. I'll see if I can get in on any deal if that happens to be the case

Right because its not like GTA/Rockstar sells because its a great game and it appeals to a lot of gamers ;)

Which of course is a bad thing because main-stream gamers are just gamers because its mainstream.

#48 Posted by Lulu_Lulu (8611 posts) -

@Jacanuk

Exactly ! ;)

#49 Posted by maynardburger (187 posts) -

@maynardburger

You said that the person who wouldn't buy it for full price 'has standards', while everybody else doesn't. Which is nonsense. People who buy it for $60 don't 'lack standards', they just have a different, *personal* appraisal of the value offered. This is an entirely subjective thing. So Rockstar don't have anybody by the short curlies. Every person is free to wait if they like. Or free to not buy it at all. But if people do want to buy it for full price, then there's nothing wrong with that. That's their choice and they shouldn't have to deal with people implying that they lack standards or are doing something wrong.

#50 Posted by Zelda187 (543 posts) -

Worth buying for PC? I guess, just because you'll have access to a huge range of mods.

Worth buying for PS4/XBone? Hell no. It's going to be the exact same game except with slightly improved graphics. Definitely not something I'd shell out another $60 for.
