Where should I start? Should I take a look at the GBA games first or the Gamecube one?? I've never played one before and never really got into the strategy RPG genre. But there has been more talk lately about the series and I'm wondering if I should look in to it. I love jrpgs.

I started with Radiant Dawn on Wii and loved it, now I have Path of Radiance on GC and will be jumping into it soon hopefully, why not start with those? Stories are pretty contained, don't need to have played the ones before to get everything, and they're modernized with nice features!

I played Fire Emblem and Sacred Stones on the GBA and I enjoyed both of them. Path of Radiance on GC was also good, though I didn't enjoy Shadow Dragon. So I'd recommend any of the first three I mentioned.

Yeah and also the only way to get it outside of Japan, outside from imports of course.

I have only ever played Sacred Stones on GBA. It is an absolutely great game and hopefully I will get a chance to play the other Fire Emblem games soon.

Depends on which system you have...Never had any of the later generations of Nintendo's portables so my first FE game was on GCN. LOVED IT, have completed it 7 times.

I play Path of Radiace first since it is prequel to Radiant Dawn. You probably wont understand some plot points if you played Radiant Dawn before Path of Radiance.

Awakening seems like a good place to start since it's essentially a reboot of the series.

You can play any title and not go wrong (except for the one on the DS), but I would highly consider playing Fire Emblem on the GBA or Path of Radiance on GC first.

With the exception of Sacred Stones and the first three FE games, the trend is that every two games are connected in some way, story-wise. Shadow Dragon on DS is a remake of 1 and its follow-up never left Japan (a remake of FE3). FE on GBA is actually the seventh game, and it was a prequel to the Japan-only sixth game. Sacred Stones (no. 8) is standalone; Path of Radiance is followed by Radiant Dawn, and even supports data transfer.

I've enjoyed every Fire Emblem except for Shadow Dragon. There's no real order to play them in but I would play Fire Emblem (the GBA one) first, cause it is probably the best.

Any is fine except Radiant Dawn since it's a sequel. I'd say go with the cheapest you can find.

I'd say start with Path of Radiance, then get Radiant Dawn, the sequal. These are actually among my favorite video game stories ever. And they are the only Fire Emblem stories I really enjoyed. Sacred Stones was OK, but not excelent, and Shadow Dragon was rather generic. (it was originally an NES game) A lot of people like "Fire Emblem" on GBA, though I haven't played it yet. But the Radiant series is truly amazing! Definitly a good start. All the games are good though, at least gameplay wise.

Awakening seems like a good place to start since it's essentially a reboot of the series.Minishdriveby

Oh really? How is a reboot?

IMO the GBA games are the ones that best capture the essence of the series.
I mean, they're all great but the original 2D battle animations just so satisfying to watch.

I would recommend Sacred Stones on the GBA or Path of Radiance on the Gamecube.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I think I will probably go with the GBA original first because it's on the cheaper side. Plus, I do have a huge appreciation for GBA rpgs, it was just a great platform for rpgs back in the day. So I will eventually jump in to this.

The first one I tried was Radiant Dawn on the wii and really enjoyed it.

You should start with Sacred stone on GBA
