Sometimes I think it's a good thing. I liked it when games told a whole story in one 20-hour sequence (or whatever), instead of getting a 10 hour game with a cliffhanger ending and a promise of endless sequels to come.
Besides, many great games don't need a sequel - I can't reallt imagine anyone making a direct sequel to Planescape Torment or Grim Fandango (for example) without ruining the endings of the original games.
Well, if there's a conclusive ending, then I suppose I could rest easy.
But if I really liked it a lot, then no DLC or expansions would be a travesty.
As long as the DLC isn't ALREADY ON DISC (I'm looking at you, Burnout and Assasin's Creed 2)
Hmm. I havea good/bad feeling on the matter. The bad, being that there is an awesome game and I want to play more (e.g Skies of Arcadia). But on the other hand, it cements its place in history, and doesn't taint its image and our feelings towards a great game. And it also leaves us with a specific thought and unique feeling. AND, it doesn't overdo it by making too many sequals, thus making something special, have a lesser effect.
I feel somewhat cheated, but it depends on the game. I recently finished Enslaved and if there isn't a sequel I'll feel pretty let down.
Other games, like Bioshock, could have easily gone without a sequel. I enjoyed Bioshock 2, but I didn't really think it was needed.
Very disappointed. I'm still waiting for a Chrono sequel. :(Archangel3371
Amen man. I was excited about that fanmade remake but square were a bunch of squares and shut it down :(
Hate it. Take a game like Panzer Dragoon Orta. Great xbox 1 game. Come on where is 2 for the 360. It would look sweet.Easports48
Indeed!!! Great choice. I also wish Square would make a sequel or prequel to Vagrant Story.
I'm not sure if this fits in here but Vampire Bloodlines. I know it's a White Wolf licensed game but I just want another vampire themed RPG, it doesn't have to be set in any licensed world.

Depends on the game. I'm glad Shadow of the Colossus has no direct sequel. I wish FEAR ended with the first game (awesome ending). Games that focus on multiplayer need sequels though. Basically, store driven or single player experience focused games should be good enough by themselves. Multiplayer titles should have sequels because if they're good, they've been played to death yet the player would like to keep playing but with a breath of fresh air.
It depends on the game. The Mario & Luigi series was great; but if they made another that tied into the other three, I think it would end up like pokemon- milking it and getting worse and worse. If they were to make another M&L, I would have to see it becausethe original triliogyended on a high note.
If it was laid to rest with care, I'll be sad to see it go, but happy there was some closure.
If the game was good, but the ending dropped us off... and the sequel was cut due to the publisher predicting any lack of return on the franchise, that's murder.
It's like a TV series. If a show was given a season to clear up any loose ends, we'll all miss it and reminisce. If the network outright cancels it midseason, we're up in arms.
what i hate is when your waiting for the sequel of two of the greatest games of all time (me personally) and suddenly you hear that there is an mmo coming out instead  im looking at you kotor, such great games bioware cant even compete with the scale of them today (and yes i know obsidian did the second)
i too am looking for a vagrant story sequel pal, i am also looking for sequel of lot of other games too, but its all right, we are not makers afterall.
yeah id love to know what happened to all these great complex games that used be on the consoles all we get now is gore and guns, pretty much the reason im after moving into pc gaming as i dont see any advancement in console games these days besides graphics and motion control :(

I would love to see another one too. But, most likely not gonna happen. Maybe if the MMO does extremely well when it comes out and decide to make a new single-player game for the series.
vagrant story, legend of dragon, xenogears (not xenosaga it sucked) chrono series, suikoden and many others QQ
Depends. If itis something like Dreamfall where the game leaves you hanging at the end then it is plain old lame since itcould be years or never that we see the sequel and the resolution to the story.
Thief 4 is a different story. Thief 3 wrapped things up nicely. I would rather not have a fourth game. If they actually release it then I hope it is a new character and a new setting.
I'm fine with great games not getting sequels. If a developer is awesome, I am always interested in their next game.
In the gaming industry many pay more attention to characters and franchises than they do to developers, which I find bizarre since its developers that make worlds worth experiencing, not the other way around.
If movie fans behaved like most gamers, people would have ignored Christopher Nolan's Inception because it wasn't a sequel to Memento.
some games are better with just one release, especially if they had a good story that starts and ends completely in it.
games are sequeled to their graves these days.
