Activision have confirmed this morning that Guitar Hero Rocks The 80s is heading exclusively to the PS2. There'll be 30 songs, new venues to trash and characters to be. Seven tracks have been confirmed so far:

I Wanna Rock - Twisted Sister

I Ran - Seagulls

Round and Round - Ratt

I Want Candy - Bow Wow Wow

Metal Health - Quiet Riot

Holy Diver - Dio

Heat Of The Moment - Asia

More information, including a quote from the fantastically named Dusty Welch, can be found at IGN. Boo, hiss etc.

lol i wonder if Activision and Red Octane are avoiding putting this on the 360 because they fear another DLC price backlash

Random thoughts on this: It would be awesome to have 'Welcome To The Jungle' by Guns N' Roses in this one and I'm really looking forward to having more songs to play. I also have no problem with having a new Guitar Hero to play every six months or so!

"I Ran" and anything by Twisted Sister makes it an instant purchase.

I am sold on this.  Most of the music I listen to is from the 80's.  Hopefully they put in the one song I have been wanting since the first Guitar Hero, Paradise City by Guns N' Roses.  I cannot wait for this, thanks for posting.

Awesome news! I am glad i haven't gotten rid of my PS2 of my PS2 guitar and things. I would of prefered it to come out on the 360 aswell though because my PS2 controllor isn't working like i wished it would (the whammy bar is bust). Still, i love having more songs to play on Guitar Hero so it stops the boredom kicking in

Yes!!! I was hoping they would put out new songs like this. All the songs from GH and GH2 had ran their course with me. This just the thing to get me back into Guitar Hero.

I can't find the article at IGN.  Maybe they took it down?

Anyway, what a boneheaded move on Activision's part not making this available for the 360.  After charging $90 for the 360 version, and then the ridiculous prices for the downloadable content, now they're not going to make new songs available to 360 owners?  That's ridiculous if true.  I'm sure these songs are going to make their way to Marketplace eventually - they're not going to turn down the opportunity to screw over 360 owners even more.

I'm still hoping at least one Bon Jovi song finds its way into this game. "Wanted Dead or Alive" would be ecstasy.

And isn't Harmonix actually developing this game? That's what I read over at Joystiq.

Yep, just checked the press release, it is being developed by Harmonix. My mistake.

Yeah I find it hard to imagine that these songs won't make their way onto the 360 in some form or other especially given how well the game sold out on that system. I still can't find it anywhere.

I fear saturation here, at least for the 360.

I can only assume that this will be a downloadable purchase at some point.

We have GH2, Downloadable GH1, The 80s, Guitar Hero 3 coming soon

...too much of a good thing, without enough innovation? Rock Band is coming, too, although I imagine that'll be a bit different.

There has to be some Maiden, or it's not worth it.

Although Holy Diver is badass too.Â
